Masskara Festival is the most anticipated festival in the country held every 3rd week of October in the "City of Smiles" Bacolod City. The festival's highlights are expected to happen on October 19-20, 2013 with the street and arena dance competitions for the school and barangay categories respectively. Just like the previous years, the Masskara Festival's street dancing competition will be performed at Araneta Avenue.
Mass, which means "many", and Kara, a Spanish word for "face", it is a festival of smiles where colorful masks were worn to show a happy spirit of the Negrenses despite experiencing tragedy and bad times in the sugar industry.
Tough the official schedule is not yet released, based on previous years, Masskara Festival's highlights are always held every weekend nearest to October 19th, which is the Charter day of Bacolod City.
