Dubbed as "the Seafood Capital of the Philippines," Roxas City in Capiz is abundant in fresh seafood. When you ask the locals, where to eat in Roxas City, they will direct you to Baybay Beach where most of the seafood restaurants can be found. Coco Veranda Bar and Restaurant is one of the finest seafood dining restaurants in Roxas City. It is an open-air casual dining restaurant along Baybay Beach, conveniently located about 5 minutes away from the airport.
Specializing in seafood delicacies, Coco Veranda Bar and Restaurant was established in 2007. They offer a wide selection of fresh and live seafood as well as American and Asian dishes to cater to their guests' most discriminate palate. As a restaurant by the beach, guests are treated with a panoramic view of the beach and exquisite sunset where one can truly relish good and affordable food.
During our trip in Roxas City last November 2014, we had a chance to dine at Coco Veranda Bar and Restaurant. Here are the dishes we got to try:
Baked Scallops and Oysters
Perfectly baked Scallops and Oysters topped with cheese and spices. This one is really good. It makes a delightful starter or a main dish.Shrimp Balls
Crunchy and flavorful deep fried shrimp balls made from shredded shrimp meat. It is quite ordinary when you eat it as it is, but when dipped on the sweet chili sauce, it brings out the flavor of the shrimp balls. Yummy!Crab Fuyong
This is like an an egg omelette made with generous amount of fresh crab meat and mixed with assorted veggies. It is then topped with a savory sauce that adds flavor to the dish. I love it as it is so flavorful!Calamares
Breaded fried squid dish served with mayo dip on the side. There's nothing special about their calamares aside from it was presented very well. It tastes like the ordinary calamares I've tasted before. But it was good!Crispy Tadyang ng Baka
Crispy Beef Ribs marinated with a sweet tangy mix and deep fried to crispiness. The meat is tender, flavorful and falls off the bones. For non-seafood lovers, try this one! Definitely a mouthwatering dish!Seafood Paella
Made from sticky rice and mixed with seafoods such as crabs, shrimps, squids and mussels. This is definitely our favorite among all the dishes served to us. It is very falvorful and really filling.Crispy Noodles
Serving as a bowl, the noodles were fried to a perfect crisp. It is then filled with vegetables, meat and seafood and then poured with a special sauce. I enjoyed this dish as it has a lot of texture in it. I really love this one!For drinks, we had fresh buko juice served on its shell, iced tea and buko shakes. They were all good and very refreshing!
To end our Coco Veranda dining experience we had 2 of their specially-crafted desserts - black sambo and layered blueberry. Both are sinfully delicious!
Unfortunately, the most sought after "diwal" or angel wings clams were not available during our visit. But if you want live seafoods, they are also available. Just check on their aquarium and pick for what you want and they will cook it for you.
Overall, we enjoyed our lunch at Coco Veranda Bar and Restaurant. The place is clean, well maintained and has an awesome seaside ambiance. The staff are very accommodating, polite and always attentive to the needs of the customers. The food are affordable and tastes great - especially their seafood delicacies.
So, if you're visiting Roxas City and craving for fresh seafoods, I recommend that you dine at Coco Veranda Bar and Restaurant! I am quite sure you'll also enjoy their food as much as we did!
