Discovery Suites Ortigas, "A Homey Refuge in the City"

Whether you're a seasoned traveler, a metro staycationer or a luxury traveler, all we want is to stay in a hotel that is safe and comfortable, right? With all the time we'll be spending in them, it pays to make sure the place we're staying meets our standards and provides all we need in a hotel. I am happy to experience luxe retreat and incomparable hospitality at Discovery Suites that is located right in the heart of the the bustling Ortigas Business District in Pasig City.

Nobody blends business with leisure quite like Discovery Suites Ortigas (Check rates online). This stylish hotel opened in the year 2000 with a wide array of suite rooms designed for leisure and business travelers. Conveniently located along ADB Avenue in Ortigas, it is near the city's business, commercial and entertainment districts making it an ideal place to stay for business and leisure travelers.

Last month, we were invited by Discovery Suites to experience a 3-day Summer Bliss Escape in the city. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were warmly welcomed by the hotel staff, greeted us with sweet smiles and assisted us with our booking. Since we already have prior reservation, checking-in was fast and efficient.

Junior Suite

We were then ushered to our room located at the hotel's 10th floor. I honestly don't know what to expect when we were ushered to our room, but what we came in was a well-appointed studio-style Junior Suite Room (Check rates online). I love that our room is really spacious, smells fresh, very clean and has all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay.

With a floor space of about 40-45 square meters, our Junior Suite Room has two double-sized beds joined together by a small bed table with lamp and a telephone unit. It is complemented with clean and fresh white sheets, high-quality duvets and fluffy pillows. One of the pillows even has customized pillow case with my name embroidered on it. I love it! It is such a sweet welcome!

With guests' comfort in mind, our Junior Suite Room is equipped with all the much-needed amenities and facilities such as a spacious en suite toilet and bath, television set with cable channels, cabinets, working desk, reading lamps, luggage rack, in-room safe, a phone system with IDD/NDD, two-seater sofa and coffee table, a mini-bar, microwave oven, oven toaster and a coffee machine, among many others.

An oh... These welcome treats of fresh fruits and pastries are such a sweet and warm welcome too!

As I sneaked into the toilet and bath, I was impressed even more! It's a luxurious bathroom that is so clean, well-lit, organized and very spacious. It has a nice bathtub with a separate shower area featuring hot & cold rain-shower. What I love most is the strong water pressure that you'll certainly love as well. It also a has a sink with a huge mirror and a clean water closet. Unfortunately, there is no bidet spray.


The toilet and bath is also complete with quality toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, lotion, bath soap, vanity and dental care kits. Clean and soft hand and bath towels and bathrobes were also provided. What else can I ask for? It's quite impressive!

After dinner, when we came back to our room, the turndown service was already done. And guess what? Aside from fixing our beds, they also provided us with a bowl of popcorn, drinks and 2 DVD movies! Yey!

With all these lovely room amenities and stylish interiors, Discovery Suites will surely give you all that you need to find comfort and relaxation in a hotel room.

Discovery Suites has three dining outlets such as The Serendipity Lounge, 22 Prime and Restaurant 5. During our entire stay, Discovery Suites' restaurants spoiled us with their sumptuous and delectable menu of international cuisines from breakfast to dinner.

Restaurant 5

The buffet breakfast that comes with every booking at the hotel is served at Restaurant 5 from 6:00 am to 10:30 am. The buffet table has a wide array of carefully selected dishes that will surely be a delight to every guest. Ala carte menu and Filipino buffet are also available during lunch, making it a popular venue for executives in the Ortigas business district and an excellent spot for casual dining with family and friends. It is open for lunch from 12:00 nn to 2:30 pm and closed during dinner.

22 Prime Steakhouse

Located at the hotel's 22nd floor, it is Discovery Suites' multi-awarded flagship restaurant widely recognized for their US Prime Angus Steaks. Aside from that, it also offers a stunning view of the Ortigas skyline, making it an awesome place to dine while watching the breathtaking view of the sunset or the sparkling city night lights. 22 Prime Steakhouse is open daily from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm.

During our stay, we got to try the dishes they offer for the Father's Day Set Dinner Menu.

Serendipity Lounge

Also located at the 22nd floor, Serendipity Lounge is a perfect place to unwind after a long day. Featuring sleek, stylish interiors, fully-stocked bar and nightly lounge performances, you'll certainly enjoy the stunning city views and vistas from the window while having your favorite drink. Also, not to be missed is the lounge entertainment from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm every Wednesdays and Fridays. Serendipity Lounge is open daily from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm.

If you're just too enjoying your suite room and got too lazy to go out, you may also avail the hotel's in-room dining service. Their menu has a wide selection of delectable dishes to choose from. We got to try it during lunch as we don't want to go out of our lovely room. Here are the dishes we got to try.

XO Chili Prawns - wok-fried prawns with chili garlic, XO sauce and served with Jasmine rice.

Nasi Goreng - stir-fried rice with chicken wings, sambal oelek and sweet chili sauce.

Complimentary WIFI internet connection is available anywhere in the hotel. Connection is fast and reliable. I loved it! So, if you're someone who likes to be online most of the time or needs to connect to the internet for work, you'll definitely enjoy the hotel's free internet access.

Swimming Pool

An exciting array of hotel amenities and facilities await every guest at Discovery Suites Ortigas. They have a lovely swimming pool located at the 5th floor which is manned by an attendant to assist every guest's needs. It also offers a mini jacuzzi, day beds and free flowing coffee, which I like! The pool is open daily from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., and towels are provided upon request.

Kiddie Playroom

If you bring the kids during your stay, there's also a kiddie playroom at the 5th floor where the kids will surely enjoy.

Balance Lifestyle Fitness Club

Every checked-in guests has complimentary unlimited access to the Balance Lifestyle Fitness Club, located at the hotel's 4th floor. It offers new and state-of-the-art fitness equipment that every fitness enthusiast will surely love. The gym also has private lockers, showers, sauna, steam rooms and a Jacuzzi with a view of the city.
