ASTORIA PALAWAN: "An Eco-Friendly Resort in Puerto Princesa City"

Palawan is known for its spectacular beaches, thriving wildlife and natural hot spots. No wonder, it is hailed several times as one of the "World's Best Islands" by international travel magazines. More to that, it is also home to some of the best hotels and resorts ideal to make your vacation truly memorable.

Just recently, we had a wonderful Palawan getaway at Astoria Palawan. Situated on a sprawling 5-hectare mango orchard in Brgy. San Rafael, Puerto Princesa City, it is one of the latest additions to the Astoria Hotel and Resort's growing portfolio of luxury leisure properties in the Philippines.

Upon arrival at the Astoria Palawan, we were warmly welcomed by the hotel staff and greeted us with warm smiles. Since we already have a reservation, checking-in was fast and efficient. After about 5 minutes, we were given the key card to our room.

Deluxe Room

Our Deluxe Room (Check rates online) is spacious and features modern-industrial interiors with top-notch facilities and amenities. It is a well-appointed room that has an array of essential amenities and facilities needed for a comfortable stay.

The room is highlighted with 2 queen-size beds joined to one side by a small bed table with a telephone and a lamp shade; it also has fresh clean white sheets, fluffy pillows and comforters that compliment it so well. I tried it right away and I felt like I was melting into the bed as I lay my back on it. Very comfortable!

With guests' comfort in mind, the room is also equipped with an individually-controlled air-conditioning unit, an en suite toilet and bath with lovely bathroom fixtures and amenities, an LCD television set with cable channels, an in-room safety deposit box, luggage rack, mirrors and a spacious work desk. It also has a small kitchenette with a sink, microwave oven, a refrigerator, coffee & tea making facility, and a mini bar with complimentary drinking water.

The en suite toilet and bath is also spacious. It has an enclosed shower area with hot and cold rain shower feature and a bath tub. It also comes with quality toiletries and bathroom amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, bath soap, tissue paper, and dental care and vanity kits. The body and hand towels are soft and all smell fresh!

I couldn't ask for more, it's quite impressive! Astoria Palawan (Check rates online) did not disappoint; from the sink with huge mirror, to the clean water closet with bidet spray, to the shower area, they are all clean and well-kept.

I am totally impressed! The room's modern-industrial and uncluttered interiors will surely give every guest a comfortable and relaxing sleep. The huge space, comfortable beds and the adequate lighting inside provide a soothing ambiance perfect for good night's sleep.

F & B Service

Astoria Palawan's restaurant is located right at the middle of the resort overlooking the beach and the lovely 35-meter infinity pool. It is an all-day dining restaurant that serves a wide array of international and Filipino cuisines.

Breakfast Buffet

What I love most is the breakfast buffet every morning with an array of delectable dishes. The dishes vary each day, so even if you're staying for more than 1 night (just like us), you won't get bored with their breakfast buffet because there's always something new to look forward to each day.

The food were awesome and we were satisfied in every breakfast we had. Breakfast is served from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Internet Connection

Complimentary WIFI internet access is available in the resort. Connection is good in the reception area and at the restaurant; it gets weak to no connection inside the room. Because of its location, 3G signal for Globe subscribers is not available. But the resort installed a signal booster, so guests could still take and make a call in some areas.

Indoor Recreation Area

Located at the reception hall, guests can spend endless hours playing billiards, card and board games, ping-pong, and computer stations / video games for children or sing your favorite songs in their KTV room at the indoor recreation area. It is free for use for checked-in guests.

Function Rooms and Convention Center

Astoria Palawan also has function rooms and a huge convention center. They are ideal for private, corporate and other social events such as conferences, seminars, wedding receptions, birthdays, meetings and conventions. The newly-built Mangrove Convention Center accommodates the increasing demand for off-site meetings, conferences, team building sessions, and exhibition venues held in Puerto Princesa City.

Swimming Pool

During our stay, we spent most of our time just lounging at their lovely infinity pool and enjoyed the resort's awesome surroundings. Their infinity pool is located in front of the restaurant overlooking the beach.

The swimming pool is so nice and kept very clean. The pool area is well-manicured and is surrounded with lush ornamental and flowering plants. It has day beds scattered around and outdoor dining tables where you could eat while enjoying the pool.

Palawan Waterpark by Astoria

One of the latest addition to the wide array of resort amenities and facilities in Astoria Palawan is the 4,000-sqm Palawan Waterpark by Astoria. A first of its kind water park in Palawan, it has a wave pool, a lazy river, kiddie pool, and several water slides. It also hosts Ark Seafood Restaurant which is is the water park’s food and beverage outlet where guests can dine on a variety of delectable dishes and snacks. Families and kids will sure enjoy Astoria Palawan's Waterpark!

Other Resort Facilities

Astoria Palawan also offers a wide array of in-resort activities every guest will surely enjoy, such as kayaking, snorkeling, soothing massages at their spa, beach volleyball, mini golf, kid's playground, mountain bike rides, among many others.
