Barbaras Heritage Restaurant in Intramuros Manila

Whenever friends would ask me where is the best place to go in Manila for tourists and visitors, I would always suggest the "Walled City of Intramuros." The complex is full of history and old-world-charm that will surely be a delight for everyone. There are many interesting places to visit inside Intramuros; such as the San Agustin Church which UNESCO World Heritage Site, Fort Santiago which is a 16th century military defense fortress, Manila Cathedral which serves both as the Prime Basilica of the Philippines and the highest seat of the Archbishop in the country, several museums, old buildings, and a lot more.

Just recently, we were back in Intramuros to experience Barbara's Heritage Restaurant's buffet dinner and cultural show. Located at Plaza San Luis (just across San Agustin Church), Barbara's is a themed restaurant known for its quaint old-world ambiance reminiscent of the Spanish era.

1. Awesome Ambiance

Upon entering the restaurant, I felt like we were instantly transported in the charm and beauty of the bygone era. The restaurant is accentuated with crystal chandeliers, old furniture and decors, and deep-colored wood with intricate carvings. Dining at Barbara's felt like we were attending a dinner at an Ilustrado's home back in the 18th century.

Service at Barbara's is highly commendable. From the moment you enter the restaurant, until you leave, the staff will always attend to all your needs.

3. Awesome Food

Serving authentic Filipino cuisines inspired by the colonial time and infused with flavors and ingredients that will surely be a delight to everyone, Barbara's Heritage Restaurants buffet spread is truly one of my favorites. Although it is not as huge as the other buffet restaurants in Metro Manila, the food were great and well-selected. The dishes were made from the freshest and quality ingredients which is evident on its scrumptious taste. Dishes are freshly prepared, well-presented and they see to it that they replenish them all the time.

4. Awesome Cultural Show

One of the highlights of our dining experience at Barbara's Heritage Restaurant is the cultural show. The show starts at around 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM. It gives the guests a glimpse of Philippine Culture and Heritage through traditional dances and folk songs ranging from the dances and songs from the northern Philippines to the Muslim dances in the south. My favorite part is towards the end of the show where they would invite guests to join them and try the Philippine National Dance called "Tinikling." The guests surely loved it.

5. Awesome Dining Experience

It's not everyday that you could enjoy delectable Filipino-Spanish cuisines while watching a cultural show. Dining at Barbara's Heritage Restaurant will surely guarantee you not only an awesome culinary experience, but also a visual feast. This one-of-a-kind activity is recommended for everyone - especially to our foreign friends and balikbayans visiting the City of Manila.

Some Tips and Reminders:

Get a reservation. The restaurant is always full so it is better to have a reservation before going to the restaurant.
Arrive early. The buffet dinner starts at 6:30 PM and the cultural show starts at around 7:15 PM.
Get a table near the performance area so you could enjoy the show while savoring on your food.
