HOTEL REVIEW: Diamond Hotel Manila Philippines

Diamond Hotel Philippines is one of the first luxury 5-star hotels in Manila. Located along Roxas Boulevard, it offers well-appointed and professionally-designed guest rooms ideal for business and leisure travelers looking for a five star accommodation in Manila that's conveniently located near the city's commercial and business establishments. More to that, it is also located near the city's entertainment and shopping districts; restaurants, convenient stores and dining destinations are also just around the corner. Which I really like!

What I love most is its prime and convenient location. Diamond Hotel is located just in front of the US Embassy, and a few minutes walk to and from Robinsons Place Manila, Malate Church, and Rajah Sulayman Park. More to that, as it is located along Roxas Boulevard, it is just a few strides away to the Manila Baywalk where one could relish the world-famous Manila Bay sunset.

Upon arrival at the hotel, we proceeded to the reception area where we were assisted by their friendly staff. Even if there's a long line of guests waiting, checking-in was fast and efficient. After filling-in the registration form and giving the 4,000 pesos per night security deposit, we were checked-in and we're given the key cards to our room.

Deluxe King Room

Our booked room is a Deluxe King Room located at the hotel's 20th floor. It is nice, spacious and equipped with all the essential amenities needed for a comfortable stay.

It has a king-size bed with cleam white sheet, plush comforter and fluffy pillows. I quickly tried it and it feels comfortable!

Other room amenities include: a small living area beside the window which affords a stunning view of the city, a huge LCD television set with cable channels, luggage rack, work desk with telephone, safety deposit box, cabinets, and a mini bar with a personal refrigerator, coffee & tea making equipment and complimentary bottled water.

The toilet and bath is also spacious, clean, and well-organized. It has a bath tub and shower area, clean water closet, and a sink with a huge mirror.

Toiletries such as shampoo with conditioner, bath gel, lotion, vanity and dental care kits were also provided. For guests' comfort, clean bath and hand towels were also provided.

Booking a Deluxe Room, guests can also enjoy complimentary WiFi access for 2 devices, daily local and international newspapers, and free parking.

Everything were fine, the only problem we had is the smell of the room. It doesn't smell fresh. It smells very very old. Hahaha! Anyway, we had had to leave for an event we're attending; so after preparing ourselves, we just left the room after about an hour. We'll just address the issue when we come back.

When we came back at night, we were so tired, so we just availed their in-room dining service by ordering a clubhouse sandwich from the in-room dining menu. Service was quick. It only took after about 20 minutes, and our order arrived.

Buffet Breakfast

The following morning, we woke up early and excited for breakfast. The buffet breakfast that comes with every booking at Diamond Hotel is served at Corniche from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The buffet spread has a wide array of delectable and carefully selected dishes that will surely be a delight to every guest.

The buffet breakfast is composed of different meat, fish, chicken, and vegetables dishes to choose from. There's also an egg section where you could request how your omelette should be done. For desserts, there's a wide variety of pastries, cakes, and fresh fruits. What I like most is that, there's also a halal section at their buffet spread, perfect for guests who doesn't eat pork.

The breakfast buffet is quite good and we're satisfied with every breakfast we had during our stay. It's worth waking up early every day.

Request for Change of Room

After having our breakfast, we went back to our room to rest. But since we really can't bear the room's smell, I called the frontdesk and requested for a change of room.

The frontdesk officer was quite apologetic and quickly assisted us with my request. After about 10 minutes, a guest relations officer came to our room and assisted us to our new room. She let us check it first before we agreed to be transferred to the new room. All in all, it only took us about 20 minutes and we're quickly transferred to a new and better room that smells new and fresh! Yey!

Our new room is still a Deluxe King Room but with bay view located at the hotel's 10th floor. It has the same facilities and amenities with our previous room and we were very happy with it.

Dining and F&B Services

As a 5-star luxury hotel, Diamond Hotel has 5 dining outlets. It has Corniche Restaurnt, Yurakuen Japanaese Restaurant, Lobby Lounge, Bar 27, and the Poolside Bar.

For lunch, we got to try Corniche Restaurant's ala carte menu. We had Nasi Goreng, Mee Goreng, Spring Chicken, Roasted Pork Belly, and Caramel Tiramisu for dessert. It's quite expensive, but the dishes we had really good and satisfying. My favorites are the Nasi Goreng and the Spring Chicken. Both are definitely a must-try when dining at Corniche.

Corniche is open from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, daily. Breakfast buffet is from 6:00 am to 10:00 am, lunch buffet is from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, and dinner buffet is from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm.

• If your budget permits, it's better to book one of their newly-renovated rooms located at their Premier Floor, or one of their Executive Rooms or Diamond Club Rooms.
• Dine at the hotel's Corniche Restaurant. Their dishes are really good!

Even if it wasn't perfect, we still had a comfortable and memorable stay at Diamond Hotel Philippines. Its great location, delicious food offerings, and professionally-trained staff are just some of the reasons why I would consider staying here again. Whether for business or leisure travel, Diamond Hotel is an ideal place to stay in Manila.
