WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?

La Union - Surfing at San Juan Beach in La Union

My very first surfing experience. As expected, with me are my Sosyal Klaymer friends - Ayie, Julius and Bheng. Sila ang mga SK na "always on the go!"... Hahaha!!! It wasn't a planned getaway. We have actually planned to climb a mountain but due to some reasons, we opted not to push thru with it. We will go surfing nalang... Wahahaha!!! Go kami ng La Union!!!

The town of San Juan La Union is around 5 to 6 hours by bus. I suggested that we get the first trip bound for La Union. Nasa Genesis Bus Line - Pasay na kami before mag 2 AM, because the 1st trip leaves at 2 AM but unfortunately the bus left before 2 AM. Hay... We decided to go to Genesis Cubao, baka mahabol pa namin, pero wala na. Hahaha!!! So we just took the bus bound for Baguio that will leave at 3 AM, we will just get off at Rosario La Union. From there we could take a bus bound for Vigan or Laoag. From Manila to San Juan La Union, fare is around PHP 397 pesos.

It took us around 5 and a half hours to get to Urbiztondo San Juan La Union. This is where the surfing sites are located.

After a long trip, we deserve a great breakfast. We had breakfast at Angel and Marie's Surfer's Retreat, which is just accross La Union Surf Club and Billabong Surf School.

After breakfast, pumunta na kami sa shoreline to look for a place where we could set up our tent. Mga dukha lamang kami kaya mag tent lang kami. Hahaha!!! Naghanap na rin kami ng magtuturo sa amin mag surf.

The group of Gido (Jun) gave us a good deal for a 1-hour surfing lesson, kaya ayun sa kanila na kami nagpaturo. They first taught us the basic parts of the surf board and how to use it.

Then they brought us now into the waters. Wahhhh!!! I am so nervous. Go! Kaya ko ito!!! Ayun na nga, on my 5th try, nakatayo ako at nakapag-balance... Hehehe!!! It was fun fun fun!!!

After the 1 hour lesson, we decided to rest. Nakakapagod din pala mag surf. Hahaha!!! We spent the rest of the day in the shoreline. Swimming, kulitan, picturan, inuman and beach bumming...

Thanks to TEAM GIDO for accomodating the SOSYAL KLAYMERS turned SOSYAL SURPERS!!! hahaha!!!

A side trip to the city of San Fernando La Union concluded this memorable experience. We visited the town plaza, the Church of San Fernando and the City Hall.

Then we had our dinner at the newly opened Brother's Grill before we head back to Manila.
