WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?

Iloilo - Budget Inn, SM City and Mooon Cafe

From Guimaras Island, we ride again the ferry boat bound for Iloilo City. Goodbye my lovely Guimaras, we'll see you again... =D

Upon reaching Ortiz Port, we took a cab and told the driver to bring us to a place where we could stay. As I mentioned in my previous posts, we are on a tight budget, so we asked him to help us find a budget hotel within the city. He then dropped us at Budget Inn located at Castilla EL-98 Jaro Iloilo City. It is indeed a budget hotel. A twin room only costs 700 pesos per night. It's clean and well maintained. The staffs are very accommodating. With all its amenities such as cable television, stand-by generator and WIFI zone, I guess it's a great deal!

The rain was pouring hard when we arrived, so all we can do is stay and rest inside our room. We just decided to explore the city in the evening. We took a jeepney going to SM City Iloilo in Madurriao. Checked out the stores and bought some things. There's nothing extra ordinary, I felt like I was just in Manila. Stores that you can find in any SM Malls in Manila are also available there.

When we felt hungry, we checked out Mooon Cafe located just outside the mall.

It's a Mexican inspired restaurant serving international cuisines, but their specialty is more on Mexican food. First thing that you will notice in their restaurant are the vibrant colored walls and nice artworks on it. The place is very cozy, yet the prices of their food is not so expensive.

We had their house specialty, the Mooon Steak and a salad. We also tried their Moonba Moonba Iced tea (I'm not really sure of the name). Hehehe! Food is great! We enjoyed it a lot!

On our second day in Iloilo, we visited the famous Miagao Church, which is one of the four UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Baroque Churches in the Philippines. We also went all the way to the town of San Joaquin to see the San Joaquin Church and the Campo Santo - a cemetery overlooking the sea.

Happened last November 20-22, 2010, Ilo-ilo - Guimaras Adventure is a series of blog posts of my 3-day experience in these 2 lovely provinces in the Visayas. Discover the places we've been to, the people we met, the food we tasted and the experience we gained in this memorable adventure.
