The town of Murcia is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Negros Occidental. Known for Mambukal Mountain Resort, it is fast becoming an alternative residential hub in the province. Traffic and pollution free, the local government is eager to replicate the industrialization boom that was made in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna and Subic area. Develoment projects are ongoing that aims to improve road infractructures to and from Bacolod City.
After visiting Mambukal Resort, I pass by the Murcia town proper to roam and take photos around.

Mudpack Festival celebrated every 3rd weekend of June at Mambukal Resort, it is a symbolic presentation that seeks to instill awareness in caring for the environment. Dancers are painted and coated with colorful mud found abundant in the resort.
Tinabuay Festival is the town’s yearly festival in celebration of thanksgiving and good harvest. It is also a celebration in honor of the town's patron saint - the Immaculate Conception.
How to get there
From Bacolod City, take a jeepney bound for Murcia or a mini-bus bound for Mambukal that will pass by the town proper. Fare is around 30 pesos and travel time is about 30-45 minutes.
This Negros Occidental solo trip happened last December 11-12, 2010. Here is a series of posts on my 2-day experience in one of the most progressive provinces in the country. Discover the places I've been to, the people I met, the food I tasted and the experience I gained in this memorable adventure.
