Beach camping in Nagsasa Cove is one great way to enjoy exquisite and pristine silence of nature away from the metropolis. My mountaineering group, the Sosyal Klaymers conquered this remote beach in Zambales last January 8-9, 2011. What a great way to start the new year! Ayt?!!!
It wasn't hard for us to get to this beautifully hidden cove as we were in this area in November of 2009 when we had our first beach bumming weekend in Anawangin Cove.
How we got to Nagsasa
Getting to Nagsasa Cove is easy even for first timers. Here's how we did it. We met up at Victory Liner Pasay on an early Saturday morning to catch the first trip bound for Iba Zambales. At around 5:30 AM we boarded the bus and went on a long 4 hour ride going to San Antonio Zambales. Fare is 275 pesos from Pasay to San Antonio.
We got off at San Antonio town proper and proceeded to the Public Market to buy some stuffs we need to survive another weekend in a remote paradise. You can do last minute shopping and also have your lunch here.

Loading our things in the tricycles
Tricycles that will bring you to Pundaquit Beach can be found at the terminal in the public market behind the San Antonio town hall. Fare is 25 pesos each, travel time is around 20 minutes.
Bridge along the way...
Photo-op in the bridge while inside the tricycle... Hahaha!
Tricycle ride...
Pundaquit beach is the major jump-off point for a boat ride going to the different coves in Zambales (Anawangin, Nagsasa, Silanguin, Talisayin coves). We have contacted Ate Fe for the boat transfers. We were 10 and each paid 350.00 pesos for the 1-hour boat ride. This covers the round trip ride to and from Nagsasa cove.

As Nagsasa is twice the distance of Anawangin from the shores of Pundaquit Beach, you will pass by Anawangin cove along the way. Don't worry, you will never get bored as the natural beauty of the rock formations and sprawling hills around the area is picture perfect while enjoying the sea breeze gently caressing your body while on the boat.
For arrangements with boat services, you may contact Ate Fe at 09176675374 or 09087867606. I highly recommend them! Though there are a lot tricycles in the public market, you may also contact Kuya Vhanie for tricycle services at 09091155463. For the bus trip, you may check out www.victoryliner.com for the fares and trip schedules.

ReplyDeletequestion po,

ReplyDelete@lakwatsera - thanks din po... that's good... there are a number of beautiful islands to explore in Zambales...
ReplyDelete@sivrej - i'm not sure po... you may ask Ate Fe, baka meron sila na pwede ipa-rent sa inyo... kung wala naman, I suggest you to invest on a good tent, it will be very useful for outdoor activities such as this...
regarding the boat, it depends, if konti lang kayo, yung maliit na boat lang ipapagamit nya sa inyo good for 4 persons, I think it's a bit higher... try to call her and negotiate...
@Ed - your welcome po... baka mag Magalawa Island naman kami sa Feb. happy trip po!
I got a lot of useful info from this blog entry! Thanks a lot. =)) Can I ask a question if you don't mind? Should we book the bus tickets in advance or is it okay to just buy the tickets when we get to the bus station? We will be leaving on a weekend... Thanks in advance. =))
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous - based on our experience, there's no need to book your tickets in advance, just be early in the bus station... the bus leaves @ 5:30 am, they will just start to sell tickets at 5am... Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMe info po ba kayo regarding the overnigth camping at anawangin? thanks this site is so useful
ReplyDelete@anonymous - allowed din ang overnight camping sa anawangin... camping fee differs depending on which part of the cove ka may camp... 2009 was the last time we went there... i don't know kung ganun pa din... thanks...
ReplyDeleteGreat blog! wish i could do what you are doing!
ReplyDeleteHi. Nice blog. I'm a solo female backpacker. I have been to Anawangin Cove and was able to hire a guide for the trek (took a banca going back to Pundaquit). Question: do you know anyone who can guide me to hike all the way to Nagsasa? Thank you so much. ^_^
ReplyDeleteHi. Nice blog. I am a solo female backpacker/camper. I was able to hike from Pundaquit to Anawangin with the services of a local guide, then went back to Pundaquit via banca. Question: do you have contact with a local guide I can hire to accompany me to hike all the way to Nagsasa? Thank you so much! ^_^
