Mindoro Occidental - Pandan Island, a Simple yet Comfortable Hideaway

Beach in Pandan Island

Pandan Island is Occidental Mindoro’s west side diving attraction. It is unassuming but very welcoming resort. Surrounded with nice stretch of white sand beaches with lush tropical forests, it is a perfect island getaway for beach lovers like us.

A 15-minute boat ride from Sablayan mainland will bring you to this island paradise. It offers great accommodations, different amenities and activities. If you want a place where there's not too much of a comfort living, Pandan island is the best for you!

View of the Island from the boat

This island's beauty comes not from its facilities but from the rawness of it. It is perfect for people who like to spend time in tropical surroundings without the comforts of a 5-star accommodation. Cottages are built from native materials to create a simple yet comfortable atmosphere.

Hammock hopping... hehehe!!!

the sand and sun...

There is no electricity in the island, lights are produced using solar energy system. They don't have air-conditioning or electric fans so it gets very humid at night. There are shower rooms with salt water coming from the showers, but there's a bucket of fresh water that you can use to rinse after taking a bath. It's not a 5-star resort, but who cares! This is what we're looking for! A simple yet comfortable hideaway; a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis.

There are four different types of accommodation that guests can choose from: the family houses, double standard bungalows, the standard bungalows and the budget rooms. Since we're budget travellers, we chose the budget room which is big enough for the two of us. Room rates range from Php 750 to 3,300 pesos. Guests who will stay overnight or more days, are required to take at least 1 buffet daily that costs Php 450 pesos.

I didn't know that each house has its private gecko not until I researched while writing this post. Hahahah!!! It is said to bring good luck to the house it inhabits. That’s the reason why I kept on hearing the noise of the gecko while I was asleep. Hahaha! =D

Though it is popular for being a major gateway for Apo reef, its natural charm makes tourists keep coming back to this tropical paradise. Thanks to Ms. Marina, one of the owners of the resort and to all the staffs for the warm reception. Your personalized service is highly commendable.
