WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?

Albay - A Quick Revisit to Legazpi City

Almost a year ago when I first saw the lovely Mayon Volcano. It was a dream come true! I never thought that I would see her again this soon. Last September 15, 2011, I found my self travelling to Legazpi City again, this time with my mom. Not for a vacation though, we went there to pay our last respect to a departed relative.

Although we have traveled to Batangas, Laguna, Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur and Baguio as a family when I was younger, this one is different. It was the first time I traveled on an airplane with my mom and it was her first airplane ride. Hehehe! It's funny because from time to time, she would ask me about the plane and the things she sees outside. Hehehe!

Forty five minutes after take-off, at around 7:00 AM we landed at Legazpi City. From the airport, we took a tricycle to the funeral parlor to attend the wake. After about an hour, we went to the house of a relative to have breakfast.

After a few moments of sharing stories and updating with our relatives, I left my mom there so I could roam around and re-visit some interesting sites around the city. My relative's house is just walking distance from the capitol complex, so I decided to visit it first. Nothing has changed, it's still the same as my last visit. I just took some photos and had small talks with the locals.

After a few minutes, I hailed a "Loop 1 jeepney" and alighted at Ligñon Hill. It is a park located on top of a hill. You may ride a habal-habal for 20 pesos that will take you on top.

Several activities can be done here such as rapelling, paintball, ATV ride, hanging bridge, zipline and more. Tourists come here as it provides an awesome view of the city. There are also souvenir shops and food stalls catering to visitors.

When I reached the top of the hill, the rain started to pour. So, I have to wait for it to stop. While waiting, I tried to capture the beauty of the Mayon Volcano. Unfortunately, big clouds were hovering around her as if protecting it from the rain.

So after about an hour, the rain stopped and the sky cleared up. I was able to take some more photos and then I checked if the zipline is operational.

I wasn't able to do the zipline when I was here last year. I promised myself that I will definitely do it when I return. Wasting no time, I quickly went to the zipline booth. I want to ride the wire with the majestic Mayon Volcano as the backdrop! I will make a separate post on this later.

After some more time, I took a habal-habal (20 PHP) going down. I went back to the city center and had lunch at Bigg’s Diner, "Bicol's biggest fast food chain". I had cheeseburger and fries. Bigg's is a must-try when visiting the Bicol region.

I went back to the wake and spent some more time chatting with my relatives. At around 1:00 PM, me and my mom proceeded to the airport for our 2:00 PM flight back to Manila.

Albay holds a special place in my heart because it is where I had my first solo trip last year. There are still a lot of things that makes me want to come back in Albay. I will definitely be back!

Isa pa, Hindi mahirap maghanap ng mga marerentahang mga lodging houses kasi sa lakas ng turismo sa atin bansa. Thanks for sharing this wonderful pictures to us and treasuring the beauty of our country.
