I arrived in the bustling city of Butuan at around 4 o'clock on a Friday afternoon. Upon getting out of Bancasi Airport, I took an R5-bound jeepney that brought me to the city center. My original plan is to take a bus to Bislig in Surigao del Sur where the famed Tinuy-an Falls is located. But due to a series of unfortunate events (which I don't want to remember... hahaha!) that happened to me that day, I decided not to push thru with the plan and just stay in Butuan City.
Since I still don't have any reservation at any hostel, I hailed a tricycle and asked the driver to bring me to where the hostels are. Being a highly urbanized city, accommodations abound in this regional center of Caraga Region in Northeastern Mindanao. If you have enough budget to spend, finding an accommodation in Butuan City is a breeze.
But if you're on a tight budget and just want to have a place to keep your things safe and a bed to sleep for a night, you definitely have to be patient in finding a budget-friendly accommodation. Oh, by the way, "budget-friendly" is subjective. Ok? Hehehe! :)
After checking out several hostels, inns and motels, I still can't find a hostel that fits my budget. Good thing a lady directed me to this nice hostel - Julian's Inn Annex.
What's good about this hostel is that it's very affordable, exceptionally clean, has great interiors, near a bar and restaurant, internet cafe and other establishments. It is actually just a 5-minute ride from Gaisano Mall.
It is also not on the main road, which I like! Being off the main road, the sorroundings are quieter and a lot less chaotic than if it's in the main thoroughfare.
Room rates are as follow:
Standard (Fan) - PHP 280 (daily) or 4,200 (monthly)
Standard (Aircon) - PHP 390 (daily) or 5,850 (monthly)
Superior (Aircon/CR) - PHP 480 (daily) or 7,200 (monthly)
*All rooms with Cable TV
*Standby Generator
