Since we don't have a reservation at any of the resorts in the island, we asked the staff of Coco Grove Beach Resort fetching their guests at the port, if we could go with them so we could inquire about their rooms. They led us to their jeepney shuttle service and brought us to their resort in the town of San Juan, some 20 minutes away from the port.
Having no idea about the resort, we were all at awe when we saw how lovely the resort is. It is so elegantly decorated! WOW!!!
Being a large scale accommodation in the island, Coco Grove Beach Resort has about 50 rooms. We took the Golden Palm Villa which costs PHP 4,050 for a night's stay with 2 complimentary breakfast.
Since we don't have any reservation and the check-in time is still at 2:00 PM, the room is not yet ready. While waiting, we roamed around to see the facilities and to take some photos.
The resort is marvellously designed with well-manicured gardens that blend with the natural setting of the trees and the beach.
There are two lovely swimming pools, one of which has a pool bar. Both are so nice and kept very clean. It has day beds scattered around and outdoor dining tables where you could eat while enjoying the pool.
We also went to their restaurant at the beach to have lunch. The food is good and the view from the deck where we had our food is breath-taking.
WIFI access is free, though it can only be accessed near the reception area. The downside is that connection is slow. Cell phone signal is weak in this part of the island, but there are some spots where you can catch good signal strength. If you really need to call or send a text message to someone, you can try doing it at the beach area or at the restaurant.
The staff are all polite, attentive, sweet and incredibly cheerful. Everyone greets you with a smile all the time. I believe the main plus point of this resort are the staff who provide personalized service.
When our room is ready, they allowed us to check-in. It is made of native materials with a queen-sized bed downstairs and two single beds at the loft upstairs. It has a private veranda with chairs and a table. It also has a small living area and a mini bar that is well stocked and not over priced.
Beds are comfortable with fresh sheets and fluffy pillows.
Pretty spacious bathrooms with toiletries such as soap, shampoo and lotion.
The resort is truly serene and hushed. As the property is huge, you'll never hear car traffic from outside.
For a budget traveller like me, this is the most expensive I have paid for a resort. But I don't mind, it's worth all the money spent. No doubt, it is hailed as one the best resorts in Siquijor!
