It was planned to be a group of six. Until the day of the trip came and we ended to be just a trio. Hahaha! Nonetheless, we go! It was organized by my friend from the Graduate School, she planned this Siquijor and Negros Oriental trip few months in advance. We were so excited when the day of the trip came. Our last trip together was in Davao City last February and that was also the last time I saw them. Hehehe!
Since there is no direct flight to Siquijor from Manila, we booked a flight to Dumaguete, Negros Oriental where we would take a ferry to the island.
So, from the moment we landed in Dumaguete Airport, we took a tricycle that will bring us to the port. At first, we were being charged 150 pesos, but I was able to haggle it down to just 120 pesos. I guess that's a reasonable price... ^_^
It only took us about 15 minutes to reach the port. We walked towards the ticketing booth, bought tickets to Siquijor (PHP 160) and paid the terminal fee of 15 pesos.
It was around 9:00 AM and the sea is very calm. It was a comfortable ride. I even had a chance to take a nap as I didn't had enough sleep the previous night.
After about an hour, we finally reached the Mystical Island of Siquijor! And WOW! It is indeed beautiful.
From the port, you can already see patches of white sand beach! Urgh! I can't wait to explore the island!
This is part of my adventures in the provinces of Siquijor and Negros Oriental that happened last November 20-22, 2011 with my MBA friends, Clarice and Marvin. Siquijor is the 48th province on my list. Join us as we discover the majestic and enchanting “island of fire” that is distinctively Siquijor. | |

nice post Mervs! I am looking at tickets for Dumaguete as part of the Rizal trail but since there's only one site there and I've been to Dumaguete a number of times I am on the look out for things to do. Siquijor fits the bill!!! I haven't been there and reachable pala! thank you for sharing this post!
ReplyDeleteToo sad to recall that my first impression of siquijor has something to do with mangkukulam and aswang. But my cousins who went there last year told me that I should not miss it for the world when I go home next year.
ReplyDeletenever been there yet.. pero gusto ko na talaga!!!
ReplyDeletetraveling is really one of my longest frustrations ever since. Never got time for it due to a very hectic schedule that we have to juggle at work and with the family. I hope to really go into this place and more places in the country before finally going out of the country for another getaway:)
ReplyDeleteI think this post is just on time. I'm planning to go out this summer and treat my family. Will surely include Siquijor on my list :)

ReplyDeleteParang bitin yata ako dun ah hehe. Can't wait to read the sequel of this post. I'll be watching for it. I'd like to know why Siquijor is called Mystical Island.

i wanna go here :)
ReplyDeleteYou are giving me ideas of places I would love to backpack travel to when our girls are at the right age to go along with us.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment they are still to young to rough it up. I'm too nervous of a mommy to backpack with them in the Philippines. But if I were alone or would my hubby, it won't matter much (although him being a foreigner, I would still be cautious!).
Thanks for the glimplse of Siquijo, another place I have not been in the Philippines, but would love to see.
naks, ito yung trip na nagkaroon ng PTB meet-up! ayos!
