WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?

Travel Guide : Liw-liwa Surfing Weekend - Things To Do, Suggested Itinerary, How To Get There, Accommodation and Expenses

This is a travel guide that will help you plan a weekend surfing adventure in Sitio Liw-liwa, San Felipe Zambales. It provides basic information on the things to do, where to stay, transportation, how to get there, suggested itinerary and estimated budget that will guide you through your adventure. I am no professional surfer, just a "wannabe", but if you want to try learning how to surf, I highly recommend Liw-liwa surfing site.

THINGS TO DO

Surf, Surf, Surf!
This is one awesome surfing spot that is very near Manila. So if you just have a day or a weekend to spend, go to Liw-liwa and experience riding its awesome waves. What's good about Liw-liwa, as it is not so well-known, the surfing area doesn't get too crowded. This is my hardest surfing experience so far. The waves here are bigger compared to my previous surf in La Union and Baler. Swell is good from October to March. Luckily, we went here last January as we experienced very nice swell. Watch the surfers in Liw-liwa ride the waves
As we saw how big the waves are, we were a bit hesistant if we really want to surf. It's January, the swell is great during this time of the year in Zambales. But the waves made us excited! Woohoo! Okay, we got to try it here! Hahaha! But before we really get to do it, we took some time to just sit at the shore to relax and watch the local surfers in Liw-liwa ride the strongs waves. Side trip to President Ramon Magsaysay's Ancestral House
You wouldn't miss this modest but appealing two-storey structure as it stands just along the national hi-way of the town of Castillejos. As the ancestral house of 7th President of the Philippine republic, it was restored and converted into a museum in 1990. It was greatly damaged by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991 and was re-constructed and renovated in 1999 by the National Historical Institute. To read more, click here.
