Caramoan islands is a famous tourist destination located in the farthest coast of the province of Camarines Sur. Well-known for islands and islets, as well as white sand beaches, lagoons, limestone cliffs and rich marine life, Caramoan can be reached via Sabang port in the town of San Jose, Camarines Sur which takes about 1 hour of travel from Manila by plane and another 2 hours by bus from Naga City and another 2 hours to the islands by boat from Sabang Port.
Unknown to many, it can also be reached via Virac, Catanduanes which only takes about 1 hour of travel from Manila by plane to Virac and another 1 hour by land to Codon Port, the jump-off to the islands. Here's how got there:
1. From Manila, take a flight to Virac, the capital of Catanduanes.
2. At the Virac airport, hire a tricycle to Codon port. Travel time is about 1 hour and tricycle rental is 300 pesos per way, good for 4 persons. You may contact Raymond at 0948-9328559 for your tricycle needs.
3. Upon arriving at Codon port, hire a boat that will take you to Caramoan from the fishermen residing at the community near the port.
Travel time to the islands is about 30-40 minutes depending on sea condition and the location of the islands you want to visit. Boat rental rate ranges from PHP 2,500 to 3,000 for a day of island hopping adventure. You may contact John Siz at 0919-3031181 to rent a boat.
Enjoy Caramoan!
This is part of my Catanduanes-Caramoan trip that happened last March 24-26, 2012 with my friends Billy, Cris and Edmund. Catanduanes is the 57th province on my list and this trip is my 2nd time to visit Camarines Sur. We had an awesome time just hanging around and exploring the stunning sights of this island province in Bicol region. Join us as I continue my journey to visit all 80 provinces in the Philippines! | |

ReplyDeleteThe phone numbers are no longer working :( does anyone know any other trike drivers/van drivers in Virac/Codon?
ReplyDelete@miss d. You can ask tricycle drivers to take you to codon port. They are very approchable. Van rental in virac are rare and expensive since tricycle is the major means of transportation.
