WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?

Mountain Province - Zip lining over Sagada's Kapay-aw Rice Terraces

I love zip lines. That's why whenever I travel and if there's a zip line in my destination, I see to it that I get to try it. On our way to Sumaguing Cave on our first day in Sagada, we learned that there's already a zip line here. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try it as it was already closed when we passed by on our way back to the town. So, on our 2nd day, after climbing Mt. Ampacao, we went back to the zip line to try it.

Located near the Kapay-aw Rice Terraces and Sumaguing Cave, this zip line is one of the newest attractions in Sagada. It is actually on its first week of operations when we were there. If I remember it right, it's just their 3rd day of operation.

After paying the 100 peso ride fee, I climbed the make-shift platform where the attendant is readying the equipment. After fixing all the necessary safety gears, he gave me some instructions.

I'm just sitting at the platform while enjoying the view of the rice terraces. This is already my 6th zip line experience as I've done it before in Tagaytay, Bukidnon, Legazpi, Southern Leyte and Butuan. I don't know what I'm feeling at that very moment, even if I've done it already several times I'm still feeling nervous. Or maybe I'm just too excited? Hahaha!

Then I was released! Wahhhhhhhhh!!! I felt the strong cool wind against my body. But to my surprise, I wasn't shouting this time. I'm just enjoying my time until I quickly reached the landing area. Ang bilis naman! Bitin! Hahaha!

Still, I really had an awesome time sliding thru the cable wire with the spectacular view of the Kapay-aw Rice terraces on my right and several pines trees on my left. The zip line is quite short (around 300 meters) compared to my previous zip line experiences, but it is still a thrilling one!

This is a highly recommended activity for those who want to have a heart pounding experience while enjoying the breathtaking sights and the cold weather of Sagada. It also goes for first-timers as it is a very easy ride compared to other zip lines in the country.

It's an quite experience! Believe me, you wouldn't know how enjoyable and exhilarating it is unless you try it.

NOTE: THE ZIP LINE ALREADY STOPPED OPERATION.

This is part of my Holy Week and Araw ng Kagitingan long weekend holiday trip in Ifugao, Mt. Province and Kalinga last April 5-9, 2012. Mountain Province, a landlocked province in the Cordillera Administrative Region is the 59th province on my list. We enjoyed the peace and serenity of Sagada and Bontoc, its rusty idyllic atmosphere, cool climate and most especially, the friendliness of the people. Join me as I continue my journey to visit all 80 province in the Philippines!

  5. i love doing that for the heck of it pero ang maganda d'yan ay scenic talaga ang view. it's a good alternative to one's typical Sagada experience, indeed. since I have not tried that there, when I return, I will!
