WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?

Camarines Norte - Wenceslao Q. Vinzons Ancestral House

Formerly called Indan, the town of Vinzons, Camarines Norte was named after it's homegrown hero, Wenceslao Q. Vinzons. He is a a lawyer, hero of World War II, governor of Camarines Norte and one of the youngest members of the 1934 Constitutional Convention. His two-storey ancestral house in Vinzons was declared a National Historical Landmark in 1991 by the National Historical Institute.

It wasn't hard to find his house as it stands gallantly along the main road at the town's poblacion. We wanted to enter the house as we heard that it has a public library and houses some of Wenceslao Vinzons' memorabilia.

Unfortunately, it was closed when we were there. Upon asking some locals, they told us that it has been closed for a long time as it is not safe to enter the house anymore. The structure is already in a state of dilapidation and needs urgent rehabilitation.

  3. Awww sayang. We're lucky.
