Here's another Christmas destination you shouldn't miss this yuletide season. The Palo Christmas Festival in Palo Leyte! Together with Eric of Byahilo.com, Ms. Ludette and Sir Gerry Ruiz of Leyte Gulf Travel and Tours, we attended the opening ceremony last December 14, 2012 held at the Palo public plaza in front of Palo Cathedral.
The event was graced by no less than the Mayor of Palo, Hon. Matin Petilla, as well as Leyte Governor Mimieta Bagulaya and former Leyte Gorvernor, now Department of Energy Secretary Jerico Petilla.
The opening ceremony was full of dance and song numbers to the tune of Christmas Carols, followed by the ceremonial switching of the Christmas lights and fireworks display.
Suman, Sagmani and Sarungsong
After the fireworks display, we left the plaza grounds and checked on some delicacies on sale in front of the church. We had suman, sagmani and sarungsong. All three are so yummy!
Then we went to the adjacent barangay to check on the Christmas decorations along the streets. The place is in festive mood as there are a lot of people roaming around, also checking on the well-decorated streets.
Until we reached the Saboren Christmas Fantasy House. I was mesmerized by the elaborate decorations of the house. There were Christmas lanterns, snowman, Santa Claus and a lot of Christmas lights! Kids and adults are patiently waiting outside the house which is set to be opened to the public that night.
I was more amazed when we got inside the house. Whoa! It is full of Christmas decorations of miniature Christmas villages, nativity statues, different kinds of Santa Clauses, Christmas trees and a lot more! It's like, I was transported to a fantasyland. Hahaha!
The house is open to the public from 7:30 to 10:00 PM, everyday.
The Palo lights display will be until the 1st week of January 2013. Truly, Palo is the Christmas Capital of Eastern Visayas!
Thanks to Ms. Ludette and Sir Gerry Ruiz for bringing us to Palo. We Definitely had an awesome time!
Wow, what a great Christmas experience! It's also great to hear na sinamahan kayo ni Sir Gerry Ruiz to Palo!
ReplyDeleteIf others can't make it Palo, they can also check Albuera's Christmas lights (it's nearer to Ormoc kasi). :)
