WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?

Cagayan - Meeting the Locals of Punta Verde, Palaui Island

After enjoying the prestine white sand beach of Anguib, we proceeded to Punta Verde located at the southeast tip of Palaui Island. It took us about 10-15 minutes to reach its shoreline. Upon arrival we were greeted by the fishermen from the small fishing community residing in the island. It was around 11:00 AM, they were busy fixing their boats and with their daily catch.

Punta Verde is where tourists and visitors can camp if they wish to visit Cape EngaƱo lighthouse by foot. This is where the 5.571 kilometer trail to the lighthouse starts. Trekking to the lighthouse by foot usually takes 3-4 hours depending on your pace.

If you plan to stay overnight in Punta Verde, it is suggested that you bring your own camping equipment as there are no hotels, resorts or guesthouses here. Bring your own food and potable water as well. You should register at the Marines' barracks for monitoring and security purposes.

As the beach is not that appealing to us, we didn't swim at the beach. We just talked with some locals at the shoreline selling souvenirs made of sea shells. My friend bought some.

If only we have more time, we would love to stay longer as we wanted to explore Punta Verde more. There's an Eco-historical trail and waterfalls nearby, but I guess that would be next time.
