WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?
Natural Wonders of the Amalfi Coast
Italy’s Amalfi Coast boasts some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. From the classic Mediterranean villages to the incredible plunging cliffs, this stunning and dramatic landscape is not to be missed. Sorrento holidays are the perfect way to explore the breath-taking scenery and experience the natural wonders of the Amalfi coast.
While many visitors to the area come simply to soak up the sun and scenery, the world-famous coastline is also an incredible destination for walking and trekking enthusiasts. Adventure comes in all shapes and sizes in this part of the world, including longer treks along the coastal route which originate at the ‘Path of the Gods’.
This walk connects those who walk it with the myth, history, landscape and legend of this ancient part of the world. With the sea as your faithful companion, this stunning coastal trail extends from Agerola to Positano where views of the Sorrento Peninsula and the island of Capri are sure to take your breath away.
Other attractions within the Amalfi region include the awe-inspiring Valle delle Ferriere in the Valley of the Bandits and the Mount and the Sanctuary of the Avvocata, Santa Maria del Castello. Visit the latter to experience a lasting and profound connection with this incredible landscape.
The Sorrento Peninsula is one of the most popular destinations in Italy for both Italians and foreign travellers. It is the jewel of southern Italy and has been immortalized in images, songs, text and culinary delights. One of the most popular trekking destinations in Sorrento is Mount Failto.
The name 'Failto' derives from the local dialect's word for “beech” as the landscape boasts an abundance of beech trees as well as oak and chestnut. The path up Mount Failto begins in a grove of beech trees and heads into the heart of the mountain, leading walkers all the way to the peak.
Summiting this mythical mountain feels as if you’re in the presence of the gods and the views of the Sorrento Peninsula from the majestic summit extend to the Gulf of Naples, the island of Capri, the legendary Mount Vesuvius and the Gulf of Salerno.
For those that prefer to stay close to the sea, the Natural Marine Reserve of Punta Campanella is an absolutely stunning adventure. Walking through the Reserve to the beach of Jeranto offers walkers incredible views of Punta Campanella and the famous Faraglioni, the picturesque stacks that extend out into the Gulf of Naples, which have become one of the most iconic images of Capri.
Any holiday to the Amalfi coast is sure to excite and delight the senses. Natural wonders, stunning coastal walks and delicious food ensures travellers of all tastes and interests will find something to love on their Sorrento holiday.
