Maytinis Festival is an old Caviteño tradition, held annually during Christmas Eve in the historic town of Kawit, province of Cavite. The festival showcases a dramatic recapping of St. Joseph and Virgin Mary's search for a place to stay in Bethlehem. It also features unique Filipino translation of the ancient biblical scenes of the history of mankind's salvation from the Old to the New Testaments depicted in dazzling floats with characters portrayed by Kawiteños.
Every year, residents from Kawit, other towns and visitors from nearby provinces, flock to this town to witness Maytinis Festival.
Here are some of the floats from last year's festival.
Mark your calendars! It will be on December 24, 2013 and is expected to start at around 5:00 - 6:00 PM.
