There are only few destinations in the country that are well-known for its food, Bicol Region is one of them. Bicolano cuisine has its own distinct identity with their heavy use of coconut milk and chili peppers. In Legazpi City, it is not only the tourist spots and destinations that make the city famous but also its delicious food and delicacies. So if you're looking for a place where to eat in Legazpi City, check out Small Talk Cafe. It is one of the most-visited restaurants in the city known for its ingenuous fusion dishes.
Located in an old house in downtown Legazpi City, Small Talk Cafe is a favorite among locals and tourists. It is a small cozy restaurant known for its delicious Bicolano fares with a twist at very affordable prices. With a very limited seating capacity, the place is always full with people wanting to experience the much sough after Bicolano dishes that they offer. The restaurant's interiors exudes a very homey and charming feel with memorabilias, old piano, paintings and photos on display. Surely, aside from the food, these old stuffs will be a topic for "small talk" among diners.
The moment our food were served, no more words were uttered except for "Masarap!". Their food are really exceptionally good. Now I know why Small Talk Cafe is famous among locals and travelers visiting the city. Let me take you to a gastronomic adventure with Small Talk Cafe's most ingenuous fusion dishes.
For appetizer, we had Caramba Croquettes (PHP 135.00). The croquettes are stuffed with beef and whole chilis, they are soft in the inside and crispy on the outside. A perfect way to tickle our taste buds.
Next is Pasta Pinangat (PHP 110.00) - Pinangat a famous Bicolano dish is not just a viand but a can also be a perfect match to pasta. The pinangat, which is very similar to the spicy laing was turned into a flavorful pasta sauce. The unique combination is really a must-try!
Bicol Express Pasta (PHP 105.00) - Pasta with a twist! The famous Bicol express turned in a pasta sauce! I certainly love the right spiciness of the dish. Spicy and delicious!
Then we had the Pinangat (PHP 50.00) - An all-time Bicolano favorite, Pinangat is made of taro leaves (gabi), chilis, meat and coconut milk. It is then wrapped on gabi leaves and tied with strips of coconut leaves. The whitish clouds of cream that forms outside the pinangat truly gives a mouthwatering preview of the richness and creaminess of it. Don't leave Bicol without trying their pinangat.
Mayon Pizza (PHP 265.00) - resembling the perfect cone shape of the Mayon Volcano, this pizza is truly one of a kind. Topped with whole chillis, it is definitely spicy!
For dessert, we had Mayon Hot Lava Ice Cream (PHP 240.00) - arranged like the Mayon Volcano, it is composed of seven scoops of different ice cream flavors. It has chili, vanilla and chocolate ice cream, pili nuts, chocolate syrup, bits of chilis and strawberry syrup (also with chilis). It is spicy yet very mouthwatering. A perfect way to cap our Small Talk Cafe dining experience.
It was truly a hot and spicy culinary delight worth repeating! Absolutely an awesome experience and I hope I'd be able to go back and visit Small Talk Cafe again soon.
