Awesome Celebrations and Festivals in the Philippines this February 2014


February is the season of love, flowers, music, arts and fireworks in the Philippines. This February 2014, we have several festivals and celebrations to watch out for. There's Valentine's Day, the 5th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition in Manila, Panagbenga Festival in Baguio City, EDSA Revolution Anniversary and the Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival 2014 in Puerto Galera. For your reference, here's a calendar of the festivals and celebrations happening next month.

February 14, 2014 (Friday) - Happy Valentines Day



Valentine's Day is a great way to spend time with your date or loved one which can really create some pretty lasting moments. There are many places in the country where you can celebrate what is considered as the sweetest time of the year. What is important is you share this special day with someone you love. :)

February 15 - March 22, 2014 (Every Saturday) - The 5th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition in Manila



Considered as one of the biggest and much awaited fireworks competition in the Philippines, it will be a feast of pyrotechnic spectacle showcased by participating fireworks companies from around the world.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE FESTIVAL
  • February 15 - March 22, 2014 - Every Saturday at 7:00 PM for the nightly competitions

February 22-23, 2014 (4th Weekend) - Panagbenga Festival 2014 in Baguio City



It is a festival to celebrate not only the "season of blooming" of flowers but also the booming economy and prosperity of the City of Pines. Held every February, Panagbenga 2014 will showcase street dancing presentation by dancers in flower-inspired costumes as well as colorful floats decorated with flowers paraded along the major streets of Baguio City.

February 25, 2014 (Tuesday/Special Non-Working Holiday for Schools) - EDSA Revolution Anniversary


EDSA Revolution (also known as the People Power Revolution of 1986) is celebrated to commemorate the peaceful revolution that happened in February 1986. It is a special non-working holiday for all schools in the Philippines as stated in MalacaΓ±ang Palace's Proclamation 655, which was signed September 2013. Proclamation 655 lists all regular and special holidays for 2014.

February 27 - March 3, 2014 - Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival 2014 in Puerto Galera



Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival features some of the most exciting local and international performers and artists held in the natural amphitheater that is Mount Malasimbo. Endorsed by the Department of Tourism, it is the first international music and arts festival of its calibre in the Asia-Pacific region.
