Ketchup Food Community features home grown food concept-restaurants in Baguio that make up a "food community" of dining places in one area. Located along Romulo Drive near the Wright Park, the community is composed of Rancho Norte, Happy Tummy, Canto, Rumah Sate, and Green Pepper. The best thing about this place is you can order from any of the restaurants, stay in another restaurant and they will deliver the food where you chose to be seated.
For lunch during the recently concluded Baguio Food Tour 2014, we were able to sample on some great food that Rancho Norte and Happy Tummy offer.
Rancho Norte serves Filipino comfort food and drinks. They take pride on their signature dishes such as tapang kabayo, tapang usa and tapang baboy ramo. Dishes are very affordable at 70 pesos to 250 pesos per order which is already good for 2-3 persons per serving.
Here are the dishes on their menu that we got to try:
Tapang Kabayo (PHP 168.00)
At first, I was quite hesitant to try this dish. Well, I'm not used to eat tapang kabayo and I think this is the first time I'm gonna try it. Surprisingly, I love it! It's so tender, tastes and smells clean, a little spicy (which I like!) and very flavorful. This is definitely a must-try in Rancho Norte.Pinakbet with Bagnet (PHP 188.00)
This is one of my favorites. As a veggie lover, I love the added bagnet on it. The vegetables used are fresh and the crispy bagnet adds texture on the pinakbet.Tapang Usa (PHP 168.00)
This is also the first time I got to try tapang usa. I really don't like it as much as the tapang kabayo. It tastes good but I don't like the distinct smell of the deer's meat.Sinigang na Baboy (PHP 168.00)
This sinigang has a very think soup, perhaps because of the gabi that was used. The pork is tender and it has the right flavor of sourness.Crispy Sisig (PHP 148.00)
This is not just the regular sisig with pig snout, ears and cheeks but there's a lot of bagnet in it that made it extra yummy, sinful and extra crunchy.Strawberry Smoothie
For our drinks, we were served with a refreshing tall glass of smoothie made from fresh strawberries. It's very refreshing!Happy Tummy is a Thai-Filipino Restaurant serving noodles, salads, soups, veggies, pad thai, sate, chicken wrapped in pandan leaves, among many others. Their prices were also quite affordable at PHP 120 - 150 per dish which is good for sharing. We got to try their Crispy Tilapia in Tamarind Sauce and Sticky Rice with Mangoes.
Tilapia in Tamarind Sauce (around PHP 200.00)
I never thought tilapia will be as good as this. I love its crispiness and the flavorful tamarind sauce.Sticky Rice with Mango
The sticky rice were enriched with rich coconut milk and topped with the sweetness of the mango. Urghhhhh! It's so yummy!!! What a great way to end our Ketchup Food Community dining experience! The other restaurants inside Ketchup Food Community includes:
I've tried Canto before, I am yet to try Rumah Sate and Green Pepper. Perhaps on my next visit to Baguio City.
Ketchup Food Community is a perfect dining place for those who are on budget but looking for some great food. Here, you'll get to try a plateful of everything in one seating. I love the simple outdoor dining, great ambiance, distinct architecture and of course, the good food!
