Alfoncito's Place is one of the newest restaurants in Baguio City which specializes in Italian cuisines. Located at the lower ground floor of EDY Building along Kisad Road, it is away from the busy downtown area of Session Road. Alfoncito's Place opened in September 2013 and serves pastries, coffee, sandwiches, shakes, pasta and more. Their menu boasts of their "original Italian style of cooking with a twist". That we have to find for ourselves...
Upon arrival at the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed by the owners, Ms. Michelle Maico and Mark Maico. The restaurant is a bit small with only a few tables, but it's cozy and has that homey feel. I certainly love the restaurant's cutesy artworks, wall decors and colorful paper cut-outs that made up its interior set up. It's an ideal dining hideaway for catching up with friends, casual dates, business meeting and family bonding.
For dinner during the recently concluded Baguio Food Tour 2014, we were able to sample on some great food that Alfoncito's Place offers.
Chicken Crostini - PHP 100.00
As starter, we had the Chicken Crostini which is a serving of toasted country breads topped with chicken strip, melted cheese and tomatoes.Barbecue Pork Panini - PHP 145.00
It has perfectly grilled delicious pieces of pork in a tasty satisfying bread. The salad on the side is a perfect match. It has crunchy and fresh vegetables that adds texture to the dish.Penne Alla Bolognese - PHP 180.00
A classic paste dish served in creamy, meaty and rich tomato-based sauce. Topped with mouth-watering meat balls, the slow cooking of the soffritto gives this dish that deep and rich bolognese flavor.Spaghetti al Aglio e Olive - PHP 155.00
I'm not a fan of oil-based pasta, but Alfoncito's Spaghetti al Aglio e Olive is quite good. It has that distinct garlic and olive oil flavor and topped with sliced olives and bits of chili flakes.Linguini al Pesto with Oven-Baked Herbed Chicken - PHP 180.00
Al Alfoncito's classic, the pasta has a very tasty fresh pesto sauce. The oven-baked herbed chicken strips were moist, tender and very flavorful. Though, it was a little salty for my taste buds but the herbiness of the chicken balanced it out.For our drinks, we had an array of hot and cold drinks. My personal favorite is the Cucumber Twist which is a mix of cucumber, lemon and mint. Very refreshing drink!
Strawberry Oatmeal Shake (PHP 130.00), Fruity Morning Shake (PHP 130.00) and Cucumber Twist (PHP 50.00)
For dessert, we had Peaches and Cream Crepe, Apple and Cinnamon Crepe and Nutty Banana Crepe. They were all good. Creamy and not too sweet. The apple and cinnamon crepe is my personal favorite.
So, if you're looking for a new place to hang-out or a cozy dining place in Baguio with good-tasting food, relaxing ambiance and awesome staff, Alfoncito's Place is the best place for you!
