One of the must-visit restaurants in Malolos is Bistro Maloleño, dubbed as the "Home of Authentic Bulacan Heritage Cuisines". During our Bulacan Food Tour last May 10-11, 2014, we were fortunate to have a taste of Bistro Maloleño's signature dishes.

Seafoods Fiesta (PHP 695.00)

Perfect for seafood lovers, it is composed of squid, shrimp tempura, crabs, mussels, oysters and prawns. I love how the mussels and oysters were cooked very well without the "malansa" taste. This is an ideal dish for sharing.

Nilagang Manok sa Puti na may Asparagus (PHP 235.00)

One of Bistro Maloleño's specialty dishes, it is said to be Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo's favorite. Served hot, I like the tenderness of the chicken and the rich, flavorful broth.

Hamon Bulakenya (PHP 380.00)

A traditional Filipino dish with the distinct hamonado flavor. Made with slices of pork, it is tender and has a strong sweet taste coming from the pineapple used. I like it but I think it lacks the sweetness that I'm looking for.

Pochero ni Plaridel (PHP 350.00)

Made from beef, it is packed in flavors with a smokey taste. It is said to be one of Marcelo H. Del Pilar's favorite dishes. Definitely a must try!
