If there is one pasalubong that you shouldn't leave without when visiting Malolos, Bulacan, that would be their yummy ensaymada. I've been hearing about this famous old fashioned ensaymada from Eurobake - dubbed as the "Home of the Old-Fashioned Ensaymada Malolos and Original Inipit". That's why on our recently concluded Bulacan Food Tour last weekend, we made it a point to stop by Eurobake to buy some goodies.
Eurobake is located at the boundary of Malolos and Guiguinto, Bulacan. Owned and run by the Ramos family, it was established in the early 1980's and has been known through the years to offer delightful delicacies and pastries using traditional recipes.
One of their best-sellers is the traditional Ensaymada Malolos. Topped with salted duck egg, butter and lots of cheese and sugar, this Malolos-style ensaymada with a distinctively browned bun has been a favorite among locals and tourists visiting the province of Bulacan.
This is the first time I've tasted their famous Malolos Ensaymada, and it was so good. I like that it is freshly-baked and the bread is is soft. It's one of the best ensaymada I've tasted. Now, I know why people are raving about this traditional ensaymada.
Eurobake's Malolos ensaymada comes in generous sizes, from small (55 pesos) to as big as a plate.
Another must-try at Eurobake is their "Original Inipit", a well-guarded recipe of the Ramos family. Inipit was coined from the tagalog word to describe the pastry which is made from 2 layers of chiffon cake filled in between with thick and sweet custard-like mixture. It also comes in different flavors such as ube (purple yam), langka (jackfruit), among many others.
Eurobake's main branch can be found at the boundary of Malolos and Guiguinto near the arch. They also have branches in Metro Manila such as Greenbelt 1 and at Greenhills Shopping Center.
So, next time you visit the historic City of Malolos, don't forget to buy the traditional ensaymada and inipit from Eurobake as pasalubong for your family and friends back home.
