In Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, tilapia is abundant in their lakes. They are grown in large fish cages floating in the lake and is considered as one of the main delicacies of Lake Sebu. Munching on fresh and sweet-tasting tilapia cooked into different sumptuous dishes made our trip to Lake Sebu more memorable. Because of the different tilapia dishes that we got to try, it made me more appreciate this fish.
There are three lakes around the area. The biggest is Lake Sebu, second is Lake Seloton and the third one is Lake Lahit. If you wish to have a taste of fresh tilapia dishes, several resorts and restaurants in Lake Sebu offer a variety of dishes that will surely tickle your taste buds and satisfy your hungry stomach.
During our stay at Punta Isla Lake Resort, we ate all our meals in their restaurant. Their food is quite good with the use of fresh tilapia which Lake Sebu is known for.
You may choose to dine at the restaurant overlooking the lake or you may have a memorable dining experience at their floating restaurant. The floating restaurant is a nice option during lunch which will give you the chance to see young T'bolis performing cultural dances.
Here are the dishes that we got to try:
Chicharon Tilapia - this is the first time I got to try this. It is so crunchy and very flavorful. A healthier alternative to pork chicharon! Yummmmm!
Tilapia in Curry Sauce - Very mouthwatering dish! Really spicy and yet you could still taste the fresh and sweet-tasting tilapia.
Sinanglay na Tilapia - it is stewed tilapia fish in coconut milk stuffed with ginger, onion, garlic and tomatoes and wrapped in pechay leaves. This one is my favorite.
Lake Punta Isla Restaurant's menu is composed of more than 20 original tilapia dishes created with a local touch. Each meal costs around 200 pesos which is good for 2-3 persons.
Lake Sebu is certaily the place to be when it comes to fresh and sweet-tasting tilapia. Visit Lake Sebu and have a gastronomic Tilapia adventure!
