Armando's Pizza at Historic Camalig Restaurant in Angeles City, Pampanga

Where to Eat in Angeles Pampanga - Camalig Restaurant

Kapampangan pizza? Yes, there's a restaurant in Angeles City that serves classic homegrown Pinoy pizza recipes. Armando's Pizza in Historic Camalig Restaurant is a hundred year-old rice granary in Angeles City, that had been converted into a cozy restaurant. The restaurant has that "old world charm" that takes you back in time with its old furnishings, iron window grills, adobe walls and wood trusses. I felt like I traveled back in time as we stepped through its doors.

The combination of its lovely interiors and interesting Filipino dishes are very inviting. We went up to the mezzanine where the main dining area is located. This is my first time at Historic Camalig Restaurant and I'm so excited to have a taste of their famous Pinoy pizza.

First on the menu were the appetizers: Sizzling Sisig and Chicken Wings.

Sizzling Sisig (PHP 100.00 - 195.00)

Pampanga is known for its Sisig. Historic Camalig Restaurant's version has pig's head, liver, onions and seasoned with calamansi and chili peppers. This is the first time I've tasted authentic Pampanga Sisig. It was good, but the onion is overpowering. It is best eaten while it's hot.

Armando's Best Pizza (PHP 476 for 13" pizza)

This is one of their best-sellers. It has a heavy topping of peperoni, ground beef, green pepper, mushroom, Canadian bacon and lots of cheese. I love it as the crust is baked to a perfect crisp with a generous serving of toppings. This is definitely a must-try!

Marco's 3-way Pizza (PHP 476 for 13" pizza)

This Pinoy pizza has a mix of tuyo, tinapa and chicken adobo topped with sun-dried tomatoes and kesong puti. I love the flavor of the the sun-dried tomatoes and kesong puti added to the pizza. This one is my favorite.

Doy's Kapampangan Pizza (PHP 397 for 13" pizza)

This one is a unique pizza for me as it has salted duck egg (ebun buru), lungganisa (Kapampangan sausage), onions and pickle relish. The combination of the longanisa and salted egg is so good. It's bursting with flavors.

  1. The kamias drink was quite interesting. Now I know why it had to have a stick-o. It sort of balanced the taste.
