A trip to Zamboanga City is never complete without experiencing the flavors of its dishes. So, when in Zamboanga City, try the local food and eat at the local restaurants. One of the most popular choice among the locals is Babuh Hana's Restaurant which is known to serve native Tausug dishes.
During our first night in Zamboanga City, we had a sumptuous halal dinner at Babuh Hana's Restaurant located in Putik, Zamboanga City. Tausug dishes is something new to me. So, I am quite excited as we ordered our meals. Here are the dishes we tried:
Curry Piyanggang Manok with Rice (PHP 79.00)
Curry Piyanggang Manok - a chicken dish prepared using burnt coconut paste which gives it a distinct black color. It is sauteed in onion, other spices and coconut milk is added to make it creamier. It has the right spiciness and it's bursting with flavors.
Grilled Piyanggang Manok/Rice (PHP 79.00)
Grilled Piyanggang Manok - grilled chicken coated with burnt coconut paste. A bit dry, but still packed with that distinct burnt coconut paste.
Tiyulah Itum with Rice (PHP 59.00)
Tiyulah Itum - a Tausug black soup made of beef marinated in burnt coconut paste, turmeric, ginger and lemon grass. It is then sauteed in onion, garlic then boiled in water topped with pepper and salt. It tastes like nilagang baka but with a black soup.
Mee Goreng (PHP 100.00)
Mee Goreng - spicy fried noodles with Chicken and Beef. This one is spicy and very filling.
Overall, dining at Babuh Hana's Restaurant is a new experience for my taste buds. The food served are quite good and it let me experience authentic Tausug cuisines. So, if you're looking for where to eat in Zamboanga city, checkout Babuh Hana's Restaurant for a gastronomic adventure of Tausug cuisines.
