Egg-it is another new "hole-in-the-wall" food shop in Kapitolyo, Pasig that takes pride in serving Hong Kong style waffles with a twist. Its original concept came from Hong Kong where the famous street-food snack "eggette" originated. According to the owner, he saw it in Hong Kong where it is traditionally eaten plain. So his inventive mind adjusted it to Filipino taste by adding some toppings of fresh fruits, jams, chocolates, cream and other delectable spreads, thus Egg-it Hong Kong Style Waffles was born.
Egg-it can be found at San Rafael cor. Sta Rosa Sts. in West Kapitolyo, Pasig City. It has a small dining area where a few tables were set-up. It exudes a very casual dining experience where one can sit down, talk and relish on a very filling snack.
We got to try three of their best-sellers starting off with Bananutella (PHP 90.00). A delightful waffle topped with slices of fresh bananas and drizzled with Nutella flowing on top of the egg waffle. It's creamy and has that classic taste of banana, chocolate and hazelnut spread. Familiar yet very delicious combination.
Next is Mango Caramel (PHP 90.00) which is topped generously with fresh mangoes and drizzled with caramel. I love the right combination of the sweetness of the caramel syrup and the sour-sweet fresh ripe mangoes.
Lastly, we had the only savory waffle they have, the Black Pepper Spam with Cheese (PHP 90.00). It has bits of Spam inside each sphere and is then drizzled with cheese dressing. This one is my favorite. I love the slightly peppery flavor of the Spam perfectly complementing the smooth buttery flavor of the waffle and the rich taste of the cheese. This is definitely a must-try at Egg-it!
Egg-it has a wide array of flavors to choose from. They also have Blueberry with Strawberry Syrup, Cookies and Cream, Rocky Road, Reese's, and Tiramisu. According to the owner, they are planning to add more flavors in the coming months so that everyone will have something to watch out for. I'm excited for that!
Overall, we had a very filling meal at Egg-it in Kapitolyo. I like how hands-on the owners are and they see to it that the quality of their waffles are at its best. The place is small, yet it offers every guest a cozy dining experience. The quality and serving size of the waffles they are commendable and affordable. So, if you're for a nice place to grab a snack in Kapitolyo, checkout Egg-it Hong Kong Style Waffles!
