Among the many challenges I encounter during my travels is using the toilet inside the plane. I don't like the feeling of entering a super small space and maintaining your balance on a moving plane while doing your thing. That is why, I make sure that I use the toilet in the airport before my flight so I won't need to use the plane's toilet whenever I travel.
As a frequent traveler, I have seen and used almost all of the airport toilets in country. For me, the top 5 airport toilets in the Philippines that are clean, well-maintained and smells fresh are the toilets in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, Basco (Batanes) Airport, Iloilo International Airport, Boracay (Aklan) Airport and Davao International Airport. These 5 toilets smell, look and feel clean; they have enough supply of clean water and well lit. What I like most is that they have dedicated a personnel to keep the toilet always clean.
Not all airport toilets are created equal. But, these toilets should set as a benchmark for what a clean and sanitary airport toilet should be. After all, using the toilet is one of the basic need of travelers that should be met.
Hopefully on my future travels, I will see more clean toilets not just in these airports but also in sea ports, train stations, bus terminals, gas stations and other airports. The size, appearance, maintenance and cleanliness of toilets should be a top priority and utmost concern, especially in public toilets. Proper toilet sanitation should be practiced to ensure the safety of the public. There's no greater feeling than to use a clean, sanitary and germ-free toilet anywhere you go.
ABOUT DOMEX'S 1 MILLION CLEAN TOILETS CAMPAIGN
Based on studies, over 90% of Households in the Philippines don’t practice proper toilet hygiene and nearly 7 million people don’t have access to a toilet. Children are most affected by these facts where they get sick with Diarrhea which is the second biggest cause of death among Filipino children under 5 years. With this, The 1 Million Clean Toilets Campaign is Domex’s advocacy which aims to encourage a culture of cleanliness by increasing the public's awareness on the importance of maintaining proper toilet sanitation through a series of year-long cleaning and education initiatives.
We can do our part in making this a success! You too can be a part of the 1Million Clean Toilets Campaign by pledging for proper cleaning toilet habits. For each pledge, Unilever donates P5 to UNICEF’s sanitation program. Pledge now at www.facebook.com/DomexPhilippines.
