Bistro Remedios takes pride in offering "the best in Filipino cuisine" for 30 years now. Set on a two-story mid-20th-century illustrado home, it has been a landmark of great Filipino cuisines and a favorite among balikbayan and tourists visiting Manila. The restaurant is owned and operated by the LJC Restaurant Group of the late Larry J. Cruz, which is known in the restaurant business as one of the best in Filipino cuisines.
Few weeks ago, I was invited to take part in celebrating Bistro Remedios' 30 glorious years. And there's no better way to celebrate this milestone but to introduce totally new dishes to go with their other classic Filipino dishes.
APPETIZERS AND SOUP
As starters, we had Paco (fiddle head fern) with Tomatoes Salad, Sinuteng Baby Pusit and the all-time favorite Kapampangan dish, Sisig. Although seasonal, we were also served with the classic Kapampangan dishes such as Camaru (sautéed rice field crickets) and Fried Frog (Betute) Legs. It was then complemented with a hot bowl of Sinigang na Bangus sa Bayabas.
They were all good! I love the sisig (the best I've tasted so far) as well as the fried frog legs and the camaru. What a great way to tickle our palates.
MAIN DISHES
This is composed of Bistro Remedios' signature dishes such as Pininyahang Baboy, Crispy Tadyang, Kalderetang Kambing and Gule Magalang. And then followed by their new dishes such as Lechon Kawali sa Gata, Adobong Hito sa Gata and Sinugba Platter.
NEW DISHES
These classic Filipino dishes are all good! My personal favorites are the Pininyahang Baboy, Lechon Kawali sa Gata and the Adobong Hito sa Gata. I just love dishes that are cooked in coconut milk! Urggggg! I'm now craving for these! Hahaha!
DESSERTS
As the cliché goes "there's always a room for dessert," I really saved a lot of space in my stomach for my favorite part of this gastronomic journey, the desserts! We were served with the classic Turon with Langka, Pandan Cake, Maja Blanca, Fruits in Season and Chocnut Cheesecake.
These are memorable and interesting desserts I could have over and over again! Must-try is the delectable Chocnut Cheesecake. Yummmmm!
Thank you Bistro Remedios for inviting me to be part of your 30th anniversary celebration! I truly enjoyed these mouthwatering Filipino dishes!
