The Hyatt Regency Hotel Manila is one the grandest and biggest hotels in Metro Manila. I must admit, I haven't been to this hotel but I always see it whenever I go to the mall and other establishments nearby. So when they invited me for an intimate lunch at Li Li's Restaurant earlier this month to sample on the restaurant's most adored dishes, I instantly said "yes!"
Li Li Restaurant, located at the hotel's 5th floor is one of the signature restaurants of Hyatt Regency Hotel Manila. Upon entering the restaurant, I was instantly amazed with its lovely interiors, extravagant marble staircase and the giant chandelier glittering like crystals. The restaurant is set on a stylish residential setting with a blend of Chinese and European décors complemented with exquisite choice of furniture, vintage pieces, books, and works of art displayed. It also features five private rooms named as Library, Wine Cellar, Drawing room, Fei Fei and Bai Ling which are ideal for intimate dining among families and friends. It also has an extensive collection of premium wines as well as an impressive tea bar.
The restaurant was inspired by the life and journey of a fascinating woman named Li Li who was born and raised into an affluent Chinese family in Hong Kong. Her impeccable taste was infused with the rich and colorful Chinese culture while growing up in Hong Kong. Coming from an elite and sophisticated society, she was able to travel abroad and then pursued her art studies in Paris where she met her husband in Geneva and made Europe her home. When she returned to Asia, she seek another interest and that is to be a restaurateur. The experiences she gained from her travels inspired her to put up a place where they could invite and host their friends while enjoying sumptuous Cantonese cuisines.
Li Li Restaurant's menu reflects a traditional cooking of sumptuous Cantonese dishes using the freshest of ingredients and live seafood. The delectable variety of Dim Sums such as Steamed Lobster Dumplings with Morel Mushrooms, Steamed Pork Dumplings with Potter Mushrooms " Shanghai style", Black Truffle Steamed Siomai, Steamed Beef Dumplings with XO Sauce, Deep-fried Taro Dumplings filled with assorted Seafood will get you started. You may also try a cup of Hot and Sour soup and Baked Puff Pastry with Honey Barbecued Pork that are one of restaurant’s best sellers.
We were also served with a wide selection of dishes that exemplify the flavors of Cantonese culinary delights such as Sautéed Shrimps Salad with Fresh Mangoes and Cucumber, Pan-fried Beancurd Sheet Rolls, Deep-fried Chicken Turnip Pockets, Marinated Oolong Tea Eggs, Crispy Pancake with Chives and Ham, Eggplant Shrimp Mousse with Black Pepper Sauce, Sliced Crispy Duck Skin, among many others.
It was then capped with a delicious chilled mango pudding for dessert. Yummmm!
I must admit that I am not a fan of Chinese cuisine. I don't even know how to use a chopsticks! Hahaha! But, dining at Li Li Restaurant made me realize that Chinese cuisine is good and a great way to explore the flavors from a different culture. I am definitely coming back one of these days to try their Dim Sum Buffet. Watch out for my next feature on Li Li's Restaurant's Dim Sum all-you-can-eat!
