Crystal Beach Resort's beach break is one of the most popular surfing spots in Zambales. It is a favorite destination among surfing enthusiasts and is considered as one of the surfing spots closest to Manila. At Crystal Beach, the waves are not too big and if you get wiped out, you will fall on shallow gray sandy bottom of the beach. This is actually the best place to learn surfing in this part of Luzon.
Surfing lessons are provided by Quiksilver Surf School. They rent out boards and have instructors on site for beginners who wish to learn how to surf. Surfing lesson for 1 hour costs 400 pesos including the board rental and instructor.
On our 3rd day at Crystal Beach Resort, one of the resort's staff told us that the waves are now just perfect for us to learn surfing. Woohoo! So, the whole morning of our 3rd day in the resort was spent enjoying the beach and learning how to surf.
It was already past 9:00 AM when we went to the beach for our much-awaited surfing lessons. While waiting for our instructors, we just enjoyed watching some local surfers enjoying the waves as well as other tourists learning how to surf.
Then it's time for us to surf! Since this is already my 12th time to try surfing, I kinda already know how to balance on the board. #MedyoMayabang :)
But this time is a bit different. My instructor taught me more "techniques" such as how to control the board by directing it to go to the left or to the right. He also taught me the proper way of paddling and how to spot a wave.
I am so happy and so tired after my 1-hour of surfing lessons. But it is definitely another awesome experience!
Thanks to my surf instructor from Quiksilver Surf School for being so patient to us and for teaching me new techniques in surfing. It will definitely be very useful on my next surfing adventures!
