Ramadan (Ramadhan / Eid'l Fitr) is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar or Hijra and is one of the most special and highly-anticipated events among Muslims worldwide. Yearly, the government declares a national non-working holiday to give way for the celebration of the end of Ramadan for our Muslim brothers' and sisters' holy month of fasting. Unlike other national holidays in the Philippines, the End of Ramadan or Eid’l Fitr doesn't have a specific fixed date. It varies on the location as it is determined in accordance with the Islamic lunar calendar, or upon the sighting of a new moon by local religious leaders.
