HOLIDAYS IN THE PHILIPPINES: 2016 Philippine Holidays and Long-weekend Schedule (Proclamation No. 1105, s. 2015)

Malacañang Palace had officially issued Proclamation No. 1105, s. 2015, DECLARING THE REGULAR HOLIDAYS AND SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAYS FOR THE YEAR 2016 which was signed in Malacañang last August 20, 2015. With this list of holidays in 2016, we can now start planning for our travels and vacations for next year.

The list of 2016 Philippine Holidays are as follows:

Regular Holidays

• New Year’s Day - 1 January (Friday)
• Maundy Thursday - 24 March
• Good Friday - 25 March
• Araw ng Kagitingan - 9 April (Saturday)
• Labor Day - 1 May (Sunday)
• Independence Day - 12 June (Sunday)
• National Heroes Day - 29 August (Last Monday of August)
• Bonifacio Day - 30 November (Wednesday)
• Christmas Day - 25 December (Sunday)
• Rizal Day - 30 December (Friday)

Special (Non-Working) Days

• Chinese New Year - 8 February (Monday)
• EDSA People Power Revolution - 25 February
• Black Saturday - 26 March

Eid'l Fitr and Eidul Adha Holidays

According to Section 2, "The proclamations declaring national holidays for the observance of Eid’l Fitr and Eidul Adha shall hereafter be issued after the approximate dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar (Hijra) or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or convenient. To this end, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) shall inform the Office of the President of the actual dates on which these holidays shall respectively fall."

• End of Ramadan (Eid'l Fitr) Holiday - July 6, 2016 (Actual Date)
• Eidul Adha Holiday - September 12, 2016 (Actual Date)
  

UPDATE: On September 5, 2016, Malacanang has released Proclamation 56, S. 2016 declaring Monday, September 12, 2016, as a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Adha (Feast of Sacrifice). UPDATE: On July 4, 2016, President Rodrigo Duterte signed Proclamation No. 6 declaring July 6, 2016 as a Regular Holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid'L Fitr (Feast of Ramadan).

This post shall be updated as soon as the exact date Eidul Adha 2016 has been determined.

We will be enjoying at least 5 LONG WEEKENDS in 2016. Here's the list of the 2016 Long-weekend Schedule.

• January 1-3, 2016 - (New Year - Friday to Sunday)
• February 6-8, 2016 - (Chinese New Year - Saturday to Monday)
• March 24-27, 2016 - (Holy Week - Thursday - Sunday)
• August 27-29, 2016 - (National Heroes Day - Saturday to Monday)
• December 30, 2016 - January 1, 2017 - (Rizal Day & New Year - Friday to Sunday)

We will have an additional long-weekend if Eidul Adha Holiday will fall on the estimates dates above.
