A proposed "Mindoro-Batangas Super Bridge" was presented to Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto and Oriental Mindoro Gov. Alfonso Umali Jr. that aims to connect Batangas City to Oriental Mindoro province. The plan is to build the 15 kilometer-long bridge at an estimated cost of US $ 1.2-1.8 Billion that would take 2 years to complete.
According to Vice Governor Mark Leviste's Facebook Post, the "Super Bridge" will have 2 lanes and pedestrian/bicycle lanes. It will have a total length of 15 kilometers. It will start in Batangas City and will make a 6.5 kilometer span across Verde Island and then to Mindoro Island with second bridge spanning 8.5 kilometers. With this length, it will surpass the length of San Juanico Bridge that connects Samar and Leyte which has a length of 2.16 kilometers. When built, it will be the "Floating Bridge in Asia."
This will certainly ease the travel from Batangas to Mindoro Island and will lead to more tourists visiting the Oriental Mindoro and Occidental Mindoro.
What do you think about this super project?
