Cagbalete island is located off the shores of Mauban Quezon. It is one of the most visited island destinations near Metro Manila that offers nice white sandy beaches with clear waters, awesome sunset view and wondrous sights. With its proximity from Metro Manila, it is a popular destination among travelers and city dwellers wanting to have a quiet escape away from the big city.
It's my first time to visit Cagbalete Island last August 2015 through the invitation of my friend Karl of turistatrails.com.
We stayed at Doña Choleng's Camping Resort which offers nice and affordable island accommodations with architecture that perfectly blends with nature.
Casa Mikhail Suite
Our room accommodation is named Casa Mikhail Suite located just near the reception area. The room's interiors exude a simple island ambiance coupled with 2 double beds made of bamboo. It has comfortable foam mattresses complemented with clean sheets and pillows.Though our room is very basic, it is is clean and well organized. Basic amenities inside the room includes an en suite toilet and bath, an air-conditioning unit, a small living/dining area and a wall fan.
The toilet and bath is very spacious! It has a water closet, a shower, sink with mirror and a bath tub!
With all these amenities, every guest will certainly have an awesome and comfortable stay!
Resort Amenities and Facilities
After settling our things inside the room, we quickly checked on the amenities and facilities they offer. They have a spacious hall, a restaurant and a wide selection of accommodations such as Bali Huts, Cottages, Nipa Huts and a camping area where you could pitch a tent for that ultimate island experience.Exploring Bonsai Islet
And then we went to the nearby Bonsai islet where we had an awesome swim at the natural mini pool areas.Bonsai islet is a vanishing islet that can only be seen during low tide. Be sure to plan your visit to the islet ahead of time.
We went back to the resort and just spent our time at the beach while waiting for the sunset.
Sunset Viewing
An awesome sunset can be seen by walking along the shore for about 1 kilometer to the right side of the resort. Our group went there several minutes before sunset for us to fully enjoy the sight.I truly enjoyed the magical view of the sunset. As the sun drowned in the horizon, its rays fill the sky with radiant and fiery colors. I was mesmerized as the sun slowly disappeared in the horizon, it's like a painting done right in front of me.
Sylvia's Kamayan Restaurant
We then went back to the resort, just in time for dinner. Their restaurant, Sylvia's Kamayan Restaurant serves an array of dishes that guests can savor. Here's a copy of their menu (click to enlarge).Sunrise Viewing
The following morning, we woke up early to catch the sunrise just in front of the resort. It was such a blessing to wake up to a new day.The whole morning on our second day at Doña Choleng Camping Resort was spent just seeing things around the resort and enjoying the beach.
We also got to check on the many activities they offer. This is one of the things I love about Doña Choleng Camping Resort. They offer a wide array of activities such as snorkeling, kayaking and island hopping which makes them an ideal place for company outings and team building activities. Definitely, you will never get bored when staying inside the resort.
Electricity
The resort is powered by a generator that runs from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM during non-peak season and a water pump for washing and bathing. During peak season such as summer, electricity is available from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 7:00 AM.WIFI Internet Connection
The resort doesn't have WIFI internet connection. But don't worry, if you need to connect to the internet, 3G signal is available at the beach front and in some areas inside the resort. 3G connection is a bit slow but it's good enough for posting some photos on social media accounts and replying to emails.Notes
