Being from Cavite, the usual or default "go-to" places for us whenever we want to chill or just to hangout would be Alabang, Las Piñas or Parañaque and sometimes as far as Laguna. I could still remember back in my college days, we often visit Alabang to eat, shop, chill or just to hangout with friends. Now that the south is fast becoming "the place to be" even for people from central and northern Metro Manila, I am so happy to know that a visit to Greenfield City near Nuvali in Sta. Rosa Laguna is included in our itinerary during our Tagaytay Weekend Getaway some few weeks ago.
I really got excited when my friend told me that we'll be having a "healthy lunch" at Socrates' Secret Mediterranean Restaurant. Nestled in the vibrant and growing commercial and business district of Greenfield City in Sta. Rosa Laguna, Socrates Secret Mediterranean Restaurant is a casual dining restaurant offering its distinguished guests with Mediterranean-inspired cuisines.
Upon entering the Socrates Secret Mediterranean Restaurant, I was instantly impressed with its sophisticated yet very relaxed interiors. Dominating the restaurant is the ocean blue color which exudes a very calm and soothing ambiance. From hereon, I know that we're up for an awesome food adventure.
I must admit that I am not a fan of Mediterranean cuisines but I got so excited when the owner told us what they're serving us. We got to try some of the best-selling dishes that were carefully crafted and specially prepared by their chef. Here are the dishes we got to try.
Dip Sampler (PHP 380.00 / 3 variants)
We started with a Dip Sampler which is a delectable appetizer composed of Italian Roasted Vegetable, Egyptian Red Beet, and Tzatziki dips and served with a basket of pita bread. I ate it with my hands and tried each dip. The Tzatziki dip is my favorite.Spinach and Feta Triangles (PHP 235.00/4pcs, PHP 315.00/6 pcs)
We then had the Spinach and Feta Triangles which I really love. The creamy filling of feta cheese and spinach is really good.Vegan Moussaka (PHP 295.00)
Then we had the Vegan Moussaka which is made from layers of eggplant, squash, and lentils; and then baked in soy and tofu based béchamel sauce and cheese. Yummy!!!!Quinoa Salad Green Pesto (PHP 410.00)
Next is the Quinoa Salad Green Pesto. At first, I didn't know what it is. I thought it's risotto, but when I asked my friend and he told me that it's made from Quinoa. So, I got excited to taste it and it's really good! They cooked it in light pesto sauce and topped with roasted vegetables which makes it very flavorful. An awesome and healthy substitute to rice!Lamb Gyro (PHP 285.00)
We then had the Lamb Gyro which is whole wheat pita pocket sandwich generously filled with onions, tomatoes, black olives, lettuce, and lamb. It is then served with potato wedges and a dip on the side. This dish is very tasty and flavorful.Mediterranean Mixed Grill (PHP 590.00)
Our food adventure continued with the Mediterranean Mixed Grill which instantly became my favorite! It is composed of beef and chicken Souvlaki and Honey Mustard Lamb Ribs which is good for sharing. I love its smoky flavor and the very tasty, tender and juicy meat. Even if it was grilled, the juiciness of the meat was retained and really gives a very distinct tangy taste. This is definitely a must-try when dining at Socrates' Secret.Baklavas (PhPH190.00/3 pcs)
We ended our lunch with a satisfying serving of Baklavas. It's a rich, sweet pastry made with flaky filo filled with chopped nuts, drizzled with caramel sauce and topped with cherries. It's a perfect way to end any meal at Socrates' Secret.Shakes and Smoothies
For drinks, they have a wide array of refreshing shakes and smoothies such as Banana Mango Ginger Kefir, Avocado Honey Chia Smoothie, Red Grape, Apple and Mint Shake, Strawberry Slush Yogurt, and Matcha Coconut and Black Sesame Smoothie. As an avocado lover, the Avocado Honey Chia Smoothie is definitely my favorite!Overall, we had an awesome dining experience at Socrates' Secret Mediterranean Restaurant. Though I am not a fan of Mediterranean-inspired cuisines, dining at Socrates' Secret is a great introduction to these healthy and delicious middle-eastern dishes. Visit Socrates' Secret if ever you get the chance to visit Greenfield City in Sta. Rosa Laguna.
