Masbate is dubbed as the "Cattle Capital of the Philippines." With its vast hilly landscapes that serve as picturesque pastureland for cattle and other livestock, a ranch tour should be part of your itinerary and one of the items in your list of "Things to Do"
when visiting the Province of Masbate.
Sese Brahmans Ranch
During our visit to Masbate City last month we experienced how it feels to be a Haciendero for a day. Hahaha! Aside from witnessing the annual Rodeo Festival, we also got to visit a ranch and a farm in the nearby towns of Milagros and Mandaon, Masbate. Just an hour drive from the city, we reached the vast Sese Brahmans Ranch owned by the Sese Family.
Officially named as Sese Brahmans Ranch, a tour at the ranch will give tourists a glimpse of the life in a ranch among cattle, horses and other livestock.
Being at the ranch will also give you some quiet time just appreciating the vast pastureland and hills of Masbate while enjoying the cool strong winds. It is also a perfect activity to recharge, relax and be one with nature.
Before going back to Masbate City, don't miss to drop by at one of the stores along the road that sells Carmelado. This delectable delicacy is Masbate's version of the Pastillas de Leche that is made from pure carabao’s milk and a little of white sugar. Cut into thin rectangular shapes and wrapped in white paper, the Carmelado is one of the best pasalubong to bring back home to your family and loved ones. Yummmmm!
Fazenda da Esperanza
Also a must-visit is Fazenda da Esperanza or "Farm of Hope" which is located in the town of Milagros, just a few kilometers away from Sese Brahman's Ranch. The first of its kind in the Philippines and in Asia, it is a farm that serves as a rehabilitation center for drug and alcohol dependents. Here, patients are taught to value hard work by teaching them to raise livestock, produce milk and cheese, plant rice, and other farm activities.
When visiting Fazenda da Esperanza, don't miss to buy some of their products such as the flavored milk drinks and cookies. We got to try their milk drinks and they are really good! In case you missed it, their products are also available at their satellite store located near Masbate Cathedral.
Ranch Tour in Masbate is an ideal activity for couples, families, kids, and group of friends wanting to enjoy nature. If you want to experience this, you may visit the City Tourism Office of Masbate City in Masbate City Hall and they will assist you in scheduling your ranch visit.
