Whether it's summer or not, an ice cream is one of my favorite desserts. While traveling around the Philippines, I've tried different kinds of local ice cream flavors - most of them are infused with local products that the city or province they came from is famous for. With this, let me share to you my "11 Favorite Ice Cream in the Philippines" - that are definitely must-try!

1. Lechon Ice Cream


Aside from their yummy lechon, Azon's Boneless Lechon in Robinsons Place Tagum City also serves a unique take on ice cream. Their Lechon Ice Cream has real lechon bits and topped with crispy lechon skin. Definitely a must-try!

One of the popular signature desserts of Hill Station at Casa Vallejo in Baguio City, Ice Cream Palette is composed of 5 flavorful home-made ice cream such as Benguet Coffee with Choco Chips, Dark Chocolate with cayenne, Vanilla Cinnamon, Mango Rum and Salted Caramel. Served in a unique artist's palette, it's a great way to cap your Hill Station dining experience!

4. Strawberry Ice Cream


Baguio City is famous for its strawberries. When visiting the city, try their strawberry ice cream with real strawberry bits. YUMMMMM!

Where to Eat: You can see the ice cream vendors in the tourist spots around Baguio City or at the strawberry farms in La Trinidad, Benguet.

5. Mangga at Bagoong Ice Cream


Green mango ice cream topped with bagoong. Yes, this one if my favorite at Sebastian's Atisanal Ice Cream that can be found in Metro Manila.

Where to Eat: Sebastian's Atisanal Ice Cream's scooping stations can be found at SM Mall of Asia, The Podium and Regis Center.

Panda Fried Ice Cream Dumaguete City

6. Panda Fried Ice Cream


This is one of the popular food items to try when visiting Dumaguete City. It's basically an ice cream on a crispy breaded shell served immediately after frying. Incredibly, the ice cream inside is still frozen and hard.

Carmens Best The Ice Cream That Pleased Pope Francis

7. Carmen's Best Ice Cream


I didn't know about Carmen's Best Ice Cream not until it was featured after the Papal Visit in Manila last January 2015. In an article by inquirer.net, it was reported that it is "the ice cream that pleased the Pope." Carmen's Best ice cream were brought on board the papal plane that flew Pope Francis back to Rome after his papal visit from the Philippines. In fact, Pope Francis finished two servings of Carmen's Best Ice Cream, the Pistachio and Brown Butter Almond Brittle flavors.

Puno Ice Cream Flavors Cabanatuan City

A must-try when visiting Cabanatuan City is their home-grown ice cream called Puno's Ice Cream and Sherbet. Known as the "makers of quality made-to-order ice cream and sherbet", they have been in the business for more than five decades now. Their best-sellers are Cheese Cashew Macapuno, Langka Cheese Cashew, Fruit Salad, Cookies and Cream, Chocolate with cashew. Ube Macapuno and Sherbet Buko Lychee. Must Try? The Cheese Cashew Macapuno flavor! So creamy and really so good!

Where to Eat: Their main branch is located at Maharlika Highway, in Barangay Bitas. They also have outlets in Zulueta St. (infront of Baliwag Terminal), Gen. Tinio St. Western Union (near Megacenter), Mabini St. (near PJGMRMC), Mayapyap Sur (beside JMJ Gasoline Station),YOGURTREE, Maharlika Highway, Brgy. H. Concepcion (infront of Metrobank). Davao City is known for durian. And when in Davao, Sweet Spot's Durian Dynamit Ice Cream should be on your must-try list. Located inside Davao Crocodile Park, it's a local artisan ice cream shop that sells different flavors of ice cream.

10. Mayon Hot Lava Ice Cream


Arranged like the Mayon Volcano, Mayon Hot Lava Ice Cream is composed of seven scoops of different ice cream flavors. It has chili, vanilla and chocolate ice cream, pili nuts, chocolate syrup, bits of chilis and strawberry syrup (also with chilis). It is spicy yet very mouthwatering. 11. Malunggay Ice Cream


When visiting Bohol Bee Farm, don't miss dining at The Buzzz Cafe and try their wide array of ice cream flavors. Definitely a must-try is their Malunggay Ice Cream served in a cone made from dried cassava. It's creamy, not too sweet, but tastes really good!
