LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort is a Theme Park, Hotel, and a Water Park rolled into one. It is Malaysia's 1st international theme park located in Johor Bahru, just across the causeway from Singapore. As it is just an hour and half to 2 hours away (depending on the traffic condition at the causeway) from Singapore, it is a popular tourist destination for tourists visiting Singapore.
On our 2nd day in Singapore, we took the subway and alighted at the train station near Singapore Flyer where the bus going to LEGOLAND Malaysia is waiting for us. Since it's our first time to go to LEGOLAND Malaysia, we decided that it is better to book in advance our bus transfers to LEGOLAND Malaysia hassle-free travel to Johor Bahru. We booked it online via Klook.com before we left Manila, and with a few taps on the Klook App, we got instant conformation and details of our bus transfers.
Park tickets to LEGOLAND Malaysia can also be bought in advance via Klook. The best this with booking online, you don’t need to line up at the ticket booths. Just show your e-vouchers at the turnstile entrance and you’re good to go.
LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort
LEGOLAND Malaysia is the first of its kind in Asia and the largest in the world. It is an ideal family holiday destination offering more than 40 hands-on rides, shows, rides, and attractions specifically designed for families with children 2-12 years old. Visiting LEGOLAND Malaysia ensures a full day of interactive family experience that will surely be a memorable holiday for the whole family.
The park is composed of seven themed areas. Upon entering the theme park you'll be welcomed by "The Beginning" zone where you'll find “The Big Shop" which is considered as Asia's largest LEGO Shop.
Next is the "Miniland," which is one of my favorite zones at the park. A centerpiece of every LEGOLAND Park, the Miniland features several Asian cities and landmarks made in LEGO bricks. Many of the models are animated, so visitors can bring Lego figures, trains, and airplanes to life plus background music with just a touch of a button - making the Lego models more interactive.
Not to be missed is the LEGO Star Wars Miniland which is considered as the first attraction of its kind in Asia. It features seven scenes from the six Star Wars movies and The Clone Wars animated series in great LEGO details.
Another kids' favorite zone is the "LEGO City," which is a LEGO world where children really take control. Parents and kids can enjoy the rides and attractions such as Driving School, Junior Driving School, Boating School, LEGO City Airport, LEGOLAND Express, and The Shipyard. Must-try for the whole family is the LEGOLAND Express which is a full size LEGO train that tours around the park.
At this zone, not to be missed is the World’s First “NINJAGO The Realm of Shadows” live show. Located at the LEGO City Stage, the show features Bunkaru performance which is traditional Japanese style puppet setting. The entire show lasts for about 20 minutes and makes use of video mapping technology and illustrations to bring the NINJAGO set to life. This is a must-see show, not just for kids but for the whole family.
Next must-experience attraction is the "Land of Adventure" where you will be brought to a daring journey into the ancient LEGO worlds. In this zone, shows, rides and attractions include the Dino Island, Lost Kingdom, Beetle Bounce, and Pharaoh’s Revenge.
If you want to participate in build-and-play activities, watch thrilling 4D movies, or see the LEGOLAND Park from 41 meters above the ground for an amazing aerial view, check out the "Imagination" Zone. Other attractions that the kids will enjoy at this zone are: the DUPLO Express Playtown and the Kid's Power Tower.
Next attraction is the LEGO Kingdom zone which is ideal not just for kids but also for parents and teens. This zone offers rides, shows and attractions such as The Dragon roller coaster ride, The Dragon's Apprentice ride, The Forestman's Hideout, Merlin's Challenge, Royal Joust, and the Castle Stage.
Finally, the LEGO Technic Zone where parents and kids could enjoy rides shows and attractions such as the Aquazone Wave Racer, LEGO Mindstorm, LEGO Academy, Technic Twister, and the Project X which is LEGOLAND Malaysia's fastest ride. A must for kids in this zone are the LEGO Academy which helps model builders of all ages turn designs into reality and the LEGO Mindstorms Workshop which encourages budding robot designers to build the future out of LEGO bricks.
LEGOLAND Malaysia's New Ride
One of the newest rides in LEGOLAND Malaysia is the "LEGO NINJAGO: The Ride" which is a fully immersive 4D indoor ride inspired by the highly popular LEGO line of NINJAGO toys and TV series. At this ride, kids and adults get a chance to become their favorite characters and defeat enemies with a unique hand gestures while on the ride by throwing virtual projectiles with mere hands. It also features effects such as heat, smoke, and wind throughout the ride, making it an ultimate 4D experience for the whole family. Don't miss this ride when visiting LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort.
Where to Eat at LEGOLAND Malaysia?
Dining is not a problem when visiting LEGOLAND Malaysia There are restaurants, kiosks, and food outlets in every zone of the park. Must-try for me are the Malaysian dishes at The Market Restaurant and the Brick Fries at the Burger Junction at he “Land of Adventure” zone.
LEGOLAND Water Park
LEGOLAND Malaysia also has a Water Park and Hotel. The LEGOLAND Water Park is an interactive and fully LEGO–themed water park with more than 20 unique eater-based rides and over 70 LEGO models among its many attractions. Depending on the ticket you purchased, it can be enjoyed separately or in combination with the theme park.
LEGOLAND Hotel
If you want to stay for a night or two in LEGOLAND, they also has a hotel which features 243 themed rooms and fully themed rooms, 7 Pirate Deluxe rooms, and 8 Kingdom Suites.
