Melba's Farm Guest House is a place where one could relish nature, enjoy the quietness of the surroundings, and savor fresh and cold air. That exactly what we did during our 3-nights stay at this resort located at the woodlands of Talisay City, Negros Occidental. A peaceful and relaxing vacation. Four days of pure bliss where we did nothing but enjoy nature, and have some quiet time away from the city.
Arriving at the resort, we were warmly welcomed by the hotel staff Kuya Manuel, and the resort manager, Ed. They then offered us fresh coconuts as welcome drinks. It’s quite refreshing!
After checking-in, we then proceeded to our cabin room which is a family villa located right beside the reception area and the lovely swimming pool.
Our room is very spacious, has a high ceiling, and is made of native materials. With such a huge space, it's feels cool and airy. It has 2 single beds and one double bed, with comfy foam mattresses complemented with clean white sheets, pillows and blankets.
Other room essentials include an en suite toilet and bath, a ceiling fan, television set, cabinet, safety deposit box, sofa, bed side table with lamp, and a work desk.
The toilet and bath is also very spacious. It has a clean water closet with bidet spray, a shower area with bath tub, and a small sink with mirror. The water in the faucet and the shower come from the cold spring. Unfortunately, the water pressure is very weak and the heater is not working during our stay.
Basic toiletries such as shampoo and bath soap were also provided. Bath towels were also provided for guests' convenience.
At one side of the room is a full length glass window with a sliding door that leads to our own private veranda with a breathtaking view of the city. It also has a dinette set with chairs and tables, perfect for outdoor dining and lounge area. This is our most favorite part of our cabin where we spent most of our time just hanging around while enjoying a good cup of hot coffee, savoring the stunning views of nature and feeling the cold weather.
Every booking comes with complimentary breakfast. It is served depending on your preference. It is composed of Filipino favorites such as tocino, longanisa, tapa, and fried egg. A very good way to start your day!
Melba's Farm Guest House doesn't have a restaurant. For lunch and dinner, I highly suggest that you buy your supplies such as food, rice, and bottled water, before going to the resort. You may ask the staff to cook them for you.
What to do at Melba's Farm?
Honestly, there's nothing really much to do when staying at Melba's Farm Guest House. You can walk around and enjoy the cool breeze of the air, explore the woodlands, or swim in their lovely infinity pool with stunning views of the mountains and the city.
Doing nothing, enjoy the nature and quietness of the place, and to recharge and rejuvenate. I guess that's the unique charm that Melba's Farm offers. And we loved it!
Internet Access?
Melba's Farm Guest House doesn't offer WiFi connection, but Globe Telecom's LTE/3G mobile signal is good anywhere in the resort. So, if you need to stay connected, it won't be a problem.

How to get to Melba's Farm
Melba's Farm Guest House is located at the boundary of Talisay and Bacolod City. Situated at about 600 meters above sea level, getting here is quite a challenge but an exciting activity. There are many flights coming from Manila, Clark, Cebu, or Davao and other major cities in the Philippines going to Bacolod City. You can find cheap flights to Bacolod here.
From Bacolod City or from Silay-Bacolod Airport, you can take a taxi going to Barangay Alangilan, Bacolod City. Before going, contact the staff of Melba's Farm to fetch you from the main road of Barangay Alangilan in going up to the resort. The resort has a 4x4 vehicle and a truck that can bring you up to the resort.
