When I travel, I love to try new things. Food, activities, and even different types of accommodations. And just few weeks ago, we tried on3 of the well-known and popular hostels in Makati. A favorite among local and foreign backpackers and budget travelers, Z Hostel is a nice and trendy hostel located right in the heart of Poblacion Makati.
The Poblacion area of Makati is not new to me. I've been here many times in the past. Since we were attending a party at our friends' house in Makati, we decided to get a place to stay nearby for a night. Good thing, Z Hostel invited us to try their property.
Staying in a hostel is a smart choice if you're on a budget. It's not only cheaper than hotels; it is also a good chance to meet other fellow travelers. Since it’s very seldom that I stay in a hostel, this stay made me more excited.
Upon arrival at Z Hostel, we were warmly welcomed by the security officers and assisted us to the reception area. Then the staff asked for our identification card and processed our booking. Since we already have a reservation, Checking-in was a breeze, it only took about 5 minutes and we were given the electronic keycard to our room.
Mixed Dormitory
Our room is a 4-bed mixed dormitory perfect for those who want a bit of privacy but still has a sense of sociability with other guests. It has customized bunk beds with comfy mattresses coupled with clean white sheets, blankets, and pillows.
Each bed has its own reading lamp and electric wall sockets to charge your gadgets. Guests are also provided with their own locker (just bring your own padlock), towel rack, and clothes hanging area. The dorm lockers are big enough to fit your valuables. What's cool about it is that each locker has its own electric socket inside so you could leave your gadgets inside while charging them. Hairdryer, flat iron and board are available upon request.
The room also has an en suite toilet and bath with clean water closet with bidet spray, a small sink with mirror, and a shower area with hot and cold shower feature. Basic toiletries such as shampoo and bath gel were also provided.
Private Rooms
If you want more privacy, you can also book one of their private rooms. It features a queen size bed coupled with a nice mattress, clean white sheets, fluffy pillows, and a thick comforter. Other essential amenities inside the room include a work desk, cabinet, air-conditioning unit, and an en suite toilet and bath.
WiFi Internet Connection
Fast internet access is available inside the hostel. It's fast at the common areas and at the roofdeck but gets weak to no connection at all inside the room. There are also some computers at the lobby that guests can use to access the internet.
Complimentary Breakfast
Every booking comes with a complimentary breakfast served at the Cafe located near the lobby. It is composed of unlimited servings of breads, spreads, eggs, congee, fruits, and brewed coffee. It was good enough to perk up our day.
Z Roofdeck
One of our favorite spots at Z Hostel is the Z Roofdeck which offers an amazing view of the city. Don't miss this spot during sunset for that fantastic view of Metro Manila's skyline.
At night the Z Roofdeck transforms into one of the hippest party places in the Metro. Serving cold beers and fresh cocktails, the Z Roofdeck is definitely a place to be!

Overall, we had a comfortable and memorable stay at Z Hotel. The staff are nice and accommodating, the rooms are clean and well-organized, and the complimentary breakfast is good. Being at the center of the hippest bars in Makati, Z Hostel is definitely an awesome place to stay in the Metro.
I recommend Z Hostel for travelers wanting to have a decent and affordable place to stay in Makati City without breaking the bank. Two thumbs up!
