Looking for things to do in Singapore, tourist spots and attractions?
The first time I saw the iconic Singapore Flyer was during my first trip to Singapore en route to Malaysia in October 2016. Since it was just a quick stopover, we didn't really have the chance to explore Singapore. From that day, I promised myself that when I have the chance to go back in Singapore, I would love to take a ride at that huge Ferris wheel.
In July of this year, I visited Singapore again for a tour of Changi Airport’s new Terminal 4. Unfortunately, it was just a quick overnight trip, so we also didn't have the time to roam around the city. Sad.... :(
I think the heavens heard my prayers and just last September, I am back again in Singapore. This time, it's a 5-day trip and during our travel planning process, we made sure that Singapore Flyer will be included in our semi-DIY Singapore itinerary.
In the Philippines, there are also several tall Ferris wheels, but the Singapore Flyer is three times bigger. It stands at a height of 165 meters tall, making it an integral part of Singapore's skyline - along with the city’s skyscrapers and the Marina Bay Sands Hotel.

Light rains and dark clouds welcomed us when we arrived at the Singapore Flyer. We were then informed that they have stopped the operation until the thunderstorm is finished. So, while waiting, we roamed around and enjoyed the place.
There are some restaurants, souvenir shops, convenience store, and small garden that guests could enjoy.
After about 20 or 30 minutes, we saw that the ticket booth is opened again and people are now starting to line up. The Singapore Flyer started operating again. Yey!
Since we already booked our tickets online via Klook.com, we didn’t have to line up. We just went to the Singapore Flyer Travel Trade Concierge, presented a valid identification card and had our e-voucher exchanged for entry tickets. That's how convenient it is if you reserved your tickets online.
The first part of the experience is a nice museum-like gallery called "Journey of Dreams" where they presented the story of the Singapore Flyer in nice multimedia installations.
At the exit of the museum is a short queue of people lining up to enter the capsules of the Singapore Flyer. Assisted by the staff, we hopped into one of the 28 huge capsules and started our Singapore Flyer Flight.
As the capsule started to go up and with its floor-to-ceiling glass windows, we could see some of Singapore's landmarks such as the Marina Bay Sands, the Gardens by the Bay, Singapore's Skyline, the F1 Singapore Grand Prix track, the Merlion Park, Clark Quay, the Marina Barrage, Sentosa Island, and many more. And they say that on a clear day, you can also see some islands of Malaysia and Indonesia. That's how tall the Singapore Flyer is. Amazing!
We were so busy taking photos from different parts of the capsule that is big enough to fit up to 28 people. Yes, that's how big the capsule is. It is air-conditioned and also has some benches at the middle where you could sit and just enjoy the view from the glass windows.
The whole ride or one rotation of the wheel takes about 30 minutes. We left Singapore Flyer very happy as we have seen the city from above. This activity is ideal for the young and old. Everyone will surely love it and it's definitely one-of-a-kind and exciting adventure.
Giving passengers an exciting experience of seeing the city of Singapore in 360-degrees view, a ride at the Singapore Flyer is definitely a must-experience when visiting Singapore. Don't miss it!
