1. Go on a Road Trip

The best way to tour around the island of Siquijor is with a tricycle tour. This is ideal for small groups, couples, or a small family. For bigger groups, multicabs can also be rented. Just ask your resort on how to rent one. But if you know how to drive a motorcycle or a scooter, you could rent one and explore the island on your own. Most resorts on the island also offer motorcycle rentals. You should have a valid driver's license to rent and drive a motorcycle.

For your tricycle needs and tour guides, see details at the end of this post.

2. Visit the Churches

The island of Siquijor is home to many old and historical churches. Every town has it's own church and small chapels, but my favorites are the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in the town of Siquijor, the Our Lady of Divine Providence in the town Maria, and the St. Isidore Labradore in the town of Lazi - which was declared as a "National Historical Landmark" by the National Historical Institute.

3. Visit the old Lazi Convent

One of the most popular historical attractions in Siquijor is the huge Lazi Convent which was also declared as a "National Historical Landmark" by the National Historical Institute along with Lazi Church. Known as the biggest convent in the country, it is used to be a place for rest and recreation of the Friars. It is located just across Lazi Church, a must-visit for religious travelers.

4. Enjoy a Fish Spa at the Centuries-old Balete Tree

A must-experience in Siquijor! Located in Brgy. Campalanas in Lazi, this centuries-old balete tree is believed to be 400 years old. Known as the oldest and biggest tree in the province, it is a popular landmark that catches the attention of every visitor. At the bottom of the tree is a man-made pool with water coming directly from the tree's roots with numerous small fishes. You can dip your feet and let the fishes gather around your foot and nibble at your dead skin. Hahaha! It's quite relaxing!

5. Swim into the clear waters of Siquijor's Beaches

As an island province, Siquijor is blessed with many beautiful beaches with clear turquoise waters. I love Salagdoong Beach in the town of Maria, San Juan Beach and Paliton Beach, both in the town of San Juan. Basking in the sand, and enjoying the clear waters of Siquijor's beaches are definitely a must-do and should not be missed when visiting this majestic island.

6. Fly on a Broomstick

Okay, this is a joke! Hahaha! But you can have an illusion of like "flying on a broomstick" when you visit Hapitanan Cafe and Restaurant along Siquijor Circumferential Road in the town of Lazi. They have this "photo ops area" where you could grab a broomstick and have your photo taken just like this one below. Hahaha!

7. Swim at Cambugahay Falls

Also located in the town of Lazi, it requires a short trek down a stone staircase from the main road to reach Cambugahay Falls. It is made of a cascading 3-level waterfalls, with fresh and clean water coming from natural springs. There are small pools where one can sit, relax and just let the rushing water massage your body. Aside from swimming, you may also swing like Tarzan at the hanging ropes and jump into the cold waters, or have an exciting bamboo raft ride. Cambugahay Falls is definitely a must-see and experience when visiting Siquijor.

8. Walk through the Mangroves

Known as Guiwanon Spring Park, this eco-park is hidden within the mangroves in Brgy. Luyang, Siquijor, Siquijor. For a minimal entrance free of 10 pesos, you can walk through the lush mangroves via the wooded bridge and enjoy the cool sea breeze in the park. This is the best place to relax, unwind, and to just enjoy nature.

11. Stay in a Lovely Resort

Having been to Siquijor twice, I've stayed at two nice and lovely resorts. I highly recommend Coco Grove Beach Resort (see room rates) and Adayo Cove Resort (see room rates) - both in the town of San Juan. Aside from the resorts' amenities and facilities, what I love most about these resorts are the genuinely accommodating staff. They are local residents and really know how to take good care of their guests.

Love potions, herbal oils, voodoo doll souvenirs, t-shirts, peanut brittle (must-try!), ref magnets, key chains, and handicrafts, are just some of the nice pasalubong items and souvenirs you could bring back home to your family and friends. There are a few souvenir shops on the island. Some of them are located at the Old-Balete Tree area, Hapitanan Restaurant, and at the Siquijor Town Center. Just ask your tour guide where is the best place to buy.
