Dumaguete City has always been one of my favorite cities in the Visayas region. Dubbed as the "City of Gentle People," the its calm and laid back environment make me always want to visit it. That is why, whenever I visit Dumaguete, I always make sure that every stay will be relaxed and memorable. And there is no better way to have a relaxing stay in the city than staying in a nice hotel or resort.
If you’re the kind of a person who wants some quiet time away from the busy and crowded city center, I recommend Sta. Monica Beach Club in Dumaguete City. From the same company that manages lovely resorts such as Amorita Resort and Momo Beach House in Bohol, and The Funny Lion in Coron, Sta. Monica Beach Club is definitely one that you should consider when looking for an awesome place to stay in Dumaguete City.
Being 5 kilometers away from the city center, it gives every guest a serene and quiet environment ideal for families, couples and group of friends. With only about 18 guestrooms, it also provides privacy and a sense of exclusivity as there are only a few guests at the resort even if all rooms are fully booked.
From the city center, it takes about 10-15 minutes to get to Sta. Monica Beach Club. Upon arrival at resort we were warmly welcomed by the hotel staff and gladly assisted us with our booking.
Since we already have a reservation, checking-in was fast and efficient. Even before I finished my welcome drink, the keys to our room were handed to us.
Deluxe Guestroom
We were then assisted with our bags and ushered to our room which is a lovely Deluxe Guestroom (see room rates) that is fully-equipped with all the much-needed amenities and facilities for a relaxing and comfortable stay.
It has two comfy queen-size beds joined together by a small bed side table with a lamp and a telephone. The beds are clean and spotless. They have clean white sheets, and complemented with thick comforters and fluffy pillows. I quickly tried it and it feels comfy! My back loves it.
The room is characterized with earth tone colors such as white and brown which gives a very camling ambiance. I love that only the essentials are inside the room. It is not cramped, which gives it a spacious and airy feel.
Other essential amenities inside the room include an en suite toilet and bath, luggage rack, clothes hanging area, a spacious work desk, television set with cable channels, a mini bar with personal refrigerator, and a coffee and tea-making equipment. Complimentary drinking water is also included and replenished everyday or as requested.
The toilet and bath is also spacious. It is clean, organized, and well-maintained. It has hot and cold shower with excellent water pressure, a wide sink with mirror and a clean water closet with bidet spray. Basic toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, soap and bath towels were also provided.
One of our most favorite parts of the room is the terrace with an outdoor dinette set. This where we spent most of our time just hanging around while enjoying the stunning view of the resort, sipping a good cup of coffee or enjoying a glass of fresh fruit shakes and halo-halo.
Lanai Restaurant
Lanai Restaurant is Sta. Monica Beach Club's in-house restaurant serving Filipino and international dishes.
Every booking comes with a complimentary breakfast where you could choose from their wide selection of set breakfast meals. While waiting, you can enjoy their mini buffet composed of breads, salad, soup, fresh fruits, and my favorite Puto Maya and Sikwate. Yummmm!!! Breakfast is served at Lanai Restaurant from 6:00 am to 10:00 am daily.
For lunch and dinner, you may also check out their wide array of carefully-selected dishes, prepared by their in-house chef. During our stay, we've tried their Pinangat na Isda, Grilled Prawns, Beef Steak, Chicken Parmigiana, Grilled Tuna, Chopsuey, and Grilled Liempo. My favorites are the Grilled Prawns that are so fresh, and the Pinangat na Isda, and the Grilled Tuna. As a coastal city, Dumaguete offers freshly caught seafood, and you should definitely try them at Sta. Monica Beach Club.
Resort Amenities and Facilities
One of the things I love most about Sta. Monica Beach Club is their array of amenities and facilities which make them an ideal place to stay for families, couples, or group of friends.
Aside from the restaurant, they also have a lovely swimming pool, a pool bar, expansive gardens, boardwalk, kayaks, bicycles, a dive shop, and function hall.
WIFI Internet Connection
As part of its amenities, complimentary WIFI internet connection is available anywhere in the resort. Connection is fast and reliable even while inside the room. I love it! So, if you’re someone who loves to be online most of the time or needs to connect to the internet for work, you’ll certainly enjoy the resort's free internet access.
Highly-Commendable Staff
What I like most about Sta. Monica Beach Club are their very accommodating, hospitable, and helpful staff. When we needed help, they are just a phone call away and always ready to assist us with our needs. I believe their staff is one of the key assets of the resort. Highly-commendable!
Overall, we had a pleasant and comfortable stay at Sta Monica Beach Club. I love the quiet, peaceful and serene environment that certainly give every guest a relaxed and tranquil feeling.
So, if you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing vacation in Dumaguete City, stay at Sta Monica Beach Club! The "home away from home" ambiance of the resort will surely make your vacation truly special. It is a true paradise and a perfect place to stay for a vacation to remember.
